Anybody catch a tagged fish? I caught one on saturday afternoon on the north side by the red door. The tag number was F87445, I also saw about 4 other fish caught with tags on them in that area.

The tags were put on by the DNR along with the local tribal fish management. They are trying to estimate the walleye population based on how many of the tagged fish are caught. You are supposed to record the tag number, and (I guess...) release the fish if it is in the protected slot.
I can find the phone number for you to call - unless someone else has it handy.
These tags have nothing to do with the budweiser tagged fish contest that is advertised in some fishing magazines!!!

The DNR is asking anglers who catch a tagged fish to record the tag number, the length of the fish and the date and location where the fish was caught. Tagged fish that can't legally be kept must be released.

Anglers can provide information to the DNR several ways:

• Postcards will be available at public accesses and at local businesses. Anglers can fill them out and mail them to the DNR at P.O. Box 138 Aitkin, MN 56431.

• They can e-mail the information to [email protected]; Or they can call 218-927-3751 during regular business hours.

Anglers will get a history of the tagged fish in return including where and when it was first caught and how many times it has been caught.

Only caught one tagged fish. Outdoor News wanted a few photos. Heard of few caught in the the sand. We have caught alot of muskies tagged and many have 2 tags. I heard the DNR have quit tagging muskies and are now only tagging walleyes and smallies.

Caught one tagged fish on Saturday Morning. First fish of the weekend. Caught on the sand out from Twin Pines Resort. 18" released. Gave the info to the creel survey guy at the Garrison public access.

We caught on the north sand. It was a 17.5" fish, and the number was F85858.

We still need to contact the DNR.
