I've ice fished the CR Dam area a few times. Some nice crappies in that area. Walleyes and pike are caught often too. Ice can be iffy in a lot of spots though so be really careful if you head out that way. The arm holds fish as well as the top side where the river access is. Crappies will school by the fishing overhang/ramp but ice doesn't get too thick and sometimes there is open water. I was out there in the middle of winter last year and only founf maybe 4 inches of ice. The ice can change rather quickly too in that area with the moving water that is present.

Good Fishin,
Matt

We use to fish it when I was a kid with a canoe,in the late season.Jan.Feb.below the dam.I brought a swim mask down one time and put it in the water looking for fish ,I didn't notice much until the tail of a walleye moved .Then I was looking closer and the whole concrete spill-way was full of them. You couldn't have shoe horned another one in there.Quite an eye opener and the river fishing is always good,I think.Metro

Where's the best place to access the dam for open water fishing?

I saw a guy and his two very young kids walking on the ice and drilling holes on the Brooklyn Park side below the dam. Pretty scary taking 2 kids under 12 out there if you ask me. I didn't see them catch anything. Do people eat fish out of there? Seems like there would be alot of pollution.

Drove by Elysian on my way home this afternoon. Shoreline didn’t appear to be pulling away, view from the highway for what it’s worth.

Got the property surveyed today. Originally plotted back in 1968 and sure enough there where metal pipes marking 3 of the corners but who knows how long it would have taken me to find them. They placed a monument on the missing corner. Hopefully this warm weather sticks around, need to remove some trees and get the wheel house moved in. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Was out on the lake today. Easy 24-26" inches of hard ice yet.

Drove around the entire lake today. From the road it looks like the warm weather has melted most of the snow. Only saw about a half dozen people fishing. Ice isn’t pulling away from shore yet. Stopped at the Borden access and walked out a bit, kicked myself for not bringing the fishing equipment, easy travel out there.

interesting day fishing on 30 inches and 60 degrees out   no monsters but got a very round hybrid and some rock bass with neat eyes.

Plastic PC is 3/4 x2 x3.5. Drilled shallow holes on the transom side for the adhesive to cling to. Pretty solid. Time will tell

No shutoff needed. Take a photo of how you mounted your transducer Alex.

Actually when I store the boat I take the unit off as well. Is it ok to have the power line just hanging out? Do I need a shut off switch?
