Its fun to watch when they have Radke and Santana on the mound. Its nerve racking to watch Silva pitch. And its downright sickening to watch Lohse on the mound. I liked the Yankees suck chant, and Jeter almost losing his head. Lets play like this in october. (oh wait, its 30 something degrees outside, it may be october)

I'm with you Sledneck! We were aggresive in both of the first two games... some nice homeruns, good defense and great pitching! Did I mention Shannon Stewart is the key in our batting order, what a stud! 1 question.... Can Jacque ever not swing at a pitch?? I'm bracing for tonights game with Silva tossing BP I expect AROD to put a hurtin' on us. I can only hope for a high scoring win say 8-7.

At the worst it would still be 2 to 1 in the Twins favor...at the best, a sweep! These are the New York Yanks! No small feat beating these guys, ever! Go Twins!

Sure fun watching the boys play when they play like this. Hitting the sh.t out of the ball!

Way to go fellas!!!

By the way...
Santanna is just unreal.

Santana is just plain nasty. In baseball, nasty is a HUGE compliment.

Love to see the boys playing like they are, just wish I could get home from work earlier to see the whole game.

Go Twins!!!!

you guys were right, if the twins are going to win it will have to be 10-9

Friendly fisher, I had a feeling it would be a high scoring game (earlier post) However I only predicted 15 runs being scored, not 23!! I was wrong it wasn't AROD that killed us (although he had three hits) it was Sheffield! Now the bottom of our pitching order in the first two games against Cleveland again.

Hate the Yankees?? I thought only Met fans hated the Yankees?

They are the measure of baseball, who does everyone want to beat..the Yankees!

Who has the the big purse strings..the Yankees!

Big Apple/Yankees..Pinstripes/Yankees..Most world series/Yankees..most recognized American baseball team, world wide Yankees!

When you unravel Yankee socks, two games in a row and dang near eat their collective lunches in a third, you have done something! Go Twins!!!

Even though the boys did lose last night they still played a good game. Any half-a.sed pitching and they would have come away with a sweep. Also Nathan never pitches that bad and I think it was a fluke.
They are swinging the bats well. Let's just hope they keep it up and that our bottom of the barrel 4th and 5th starters keep us close.
Stewart is on fire!!!

I feel pretty confident in saying the Yankee pitchers will be glad to not see Shannon Stewart for a while now while he's this hot. It was next to impossible to get him out the last 3 games. 10-14 is ridiculous!

I had a bad feeling about Nathan last night. You knew sooner or later he was going to have to be human and actually give up a run. He's been so awesome you started to think it was impossible to score against him. Nothing hurt, I'd rather have him blow a game now than be like Gary Anderson during the Vikings big year & have your first miscue of the year wind up contributing to an exit from the postseason.

Yeah I had a abad feeling too seeing who he had to face in the inning, Sheffield and Rodriguez, the wat Sheff has been swinging the bat against the Twins I just had a feeling, and Nathan was definately due to give up a run or four. It was still great to watch that comeback.

We need Mauer back bad, Blanco can't hit the ball and who is this Bowen? I think between the two they barely bat .150.

Twins need a third pitcher. Is it too late to trade for one? Or does it need to go thru the waivor wire...where you know others will put a claim to prevent us from obtaining a pitcher. Drop Silva and Lohse to 4 and 5 and get Mulhulland back in the bullpen where his experience will help.

I don't know??? Blanco may not be a Johnny Bench, but he seems to me to be a pretty good all around catcher?

He calls an excellent game, he can throw out the stealers once in awhile, he can ding one out once in awhile, he protects the plate really well, he has experience and savvy to impart onto the younger players, he has a good knowledge of base running and he probably does'nt cost alot?
I vote "Yea"!

Now Bowden, I've only seen him once, so I have no opinion of him.

I can't believe people are thinking the Joe Nathan ride is over. Don't you remember the Everyday Drama with Guardado. Shefield drives a ball low and away that no one else except Vlad Guerraro could jack. Sure he had a let down after that, but remember: the other team wants to win, too. From what I've seen so far this year--I'll take Joe Na over any closer we've ever had--including Aggie. I know that is a quick judgment, but I think he's earned a little respect.

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯

I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
