Agreed. This kid is a stud. All he does is hit home runs. Also, if the twins didn't have him in the lineup, they probably would have lost the last two games.

Two games don't make a career but he has definitely had an impact thus far in the Detroit series. He still needs a little molding and shaping and still needs a little patience behind the plate, but look what happens when a pitcher makes a mistake in on him, watch out! Hopefully he can become the type of player to fit on the roster permanently.

I would trade 5-10 errors with 15 home runs for 10-15 errors with 35 home runs any day.
He also was batting around .300 in triple A, so he can hit for an average as well.

I wonder how he will do once the scouts figure out how to pitch to him?

It seems like alot of the new guys knock the cover off the ball when they first come up and after they get some at bats and the spotters get a chance to see them work, they figure out where and how to pitch them and then the average drops!

We have had a number of guys like that in recent years...I even think Dougie was like that when he came up?

I guess in order to be a really good hitter, over a long period of time, you have to go get them all over the place, like Puckett did!

If I had a $ for every player who tore it up and batted over .300 in the minors and then fizzled in the Bigs, I'd be a rich man.

I for one am not about to anoint JM the "next best thing" just yet.

Until he proves himself over the course of an entire season, I'll reserve my judgement.

Right now he's hitting .244....same as Doug. We'll see how things pan out as he gets more at bats and the pitchers figure out his weaknesses.

Wow...Dougie Baseball has really proven himself lately!! The scouts figured out how to pitch him 2 years ago and we are still giving him a shot. How pathetic is that!! Why not let the kid take a few licks and maybe hit a few dingers while he is at it.

Wish I had a $ for every time soon-to-be-former-third baseman Koskie struck out on a down-and-in slider. He's got the look on his face of a guy who's gonna be playing somewhere else next year.

Most of the time, koskie has the look of someone who is going to fall asleep at the plate! (Except when he hits theoccassional long ball!)

If the Twins need a first baseman to cut down on infield errors, shouldn't they develope better infielders?

Koskie, Minty, Jones, Hunter, these are guys who have hit or at least flirted with hitting .300 for the season, now I bet there combined average is around 40 points lower, I do not know the reason for the lack of offense, but I don't think the team-wide hitting slump will continue. Last night was a good indication of what they can do, although most of the RBI's came from the bottom of the order! I did like what Justin did behind the plate, 3-5, the two outs were hit right on the screws too, We'll see what he does this afternoon if he's in the lineup.

Is it just me or do you guys see twins batters swing at more **** completely out of the strike zone than any other team on a consistant basis? Especially Koskie and Jones.

I see Jones swinging for the fences at every at bat. How about hitting for average?

Koskie, Mientkiewicz, Hunter Guzman and Jones have been terrible at the plate. They've had their moments, but their beyond the point of potential. We need them to produce now, they should be in their prime. That's why only 1 or two of those names will be back. At least Jones stikes out on breaking balls, Hunter strikes out on high fastballs or fast balls low and off the plate. I'd move Hunter if I could get any value, of course once you did he'd develop into a star (See: Ortiz, minus the bat throwing thing)

You know, some of the Twins players that I and others have ragged on, are'nt all of a sudden going to turn into super stars, even if they do come out of their slumps.

At the very top of their game, it seems to me that they will only be average players, with a shining moment here and there.

Jones sure did'nt look good at the plate last night! He was swinging at everything, which is'nt bad I suppose, as long as you connect once in awhile, but cheez!

Koskie looked like he was going to topple over on a few of those lame attempts at pitches out of the strike zone. Thats a hell of a follow through he has there!

Hunter I think is in a legitimate slump and I believe he will find his way out. He is a very good fielder and he can hit now and then.

It's a good thing the Twins have this crop of young lions, or they would be up the crick! Time to give em a chance, even if it means benching some of the regulars (DM).

In most of the pro sports, it is'nt a matter of what you did last year, it's a matter of "What have you done for me lately"! Nostalgia does'nt "Git er done"!

You hit the nail on the head with those analogies, Koskie has to have one of the worst swings in baseball, maybe next to Ichiro. I guess growing up in Canada you kinda develop a slap shot swing, but that dopey look, that's gotta be genetics.

Anyway, the are sqeaking by right now and until we get some production out of our money players it's gonna be a long ride into the post season. The upcoming Boston series should be interesting, a test of how they stack up ugainst some serious offense.
