went out to west rush by crane island. Bite was slow in the morning but managed to get 3 slabs the rest we released. We were in 32 feet of water, fishing 5-6 feet off the bottom. Thanks sparkyaber for the heads up on where you were fishing. Thats where we tried. Hoping to get out some other time for the evening bite.

Anyone been on Rush the past few days? Planning on going Saturday and wondering about ice conditions from cj's out. Are people driving or would it be safer to use my sled. Any info would be appreciated.

Hey SkoBandit, Everybody has been out on the ATV's and Sleds. I have not seen any vehicles Driving all the way out there yet. They are parking on shore by CJ's. My house has about 10 inches of ice under it. I would wait a couple of weeks before driving out. Crappies are hitting good around 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. we have been getting some nice sized ones to Good Luck!!!!!!!!! Its a complete zoo out there on the weekends also.

We were out by crane island yesterday and last night, with not much luck. There were tons of fish down at about 30 feet, but getting them to bite was a different story. Also the ones we caught were very small. Now the ice conditions: There were a few small trucks also a full size truck out that far, but the ice is still only 10-12 inches thick. Not enough for this guy.
good luck to you.

Thanks @knoppers.   I’m about to head over to that general area.  Makes me wonder if I should load the wheeler.

What length of the HT BLUES are you looking for? I've seen some 24" @ Walmart stores. Some in the rod/reel combos n some just the rod itself. I got my 30" frm Frankie's bait in Chisago so if you're in that area you can check it out or give them a call. I remember seeing some @ Blue Ribbon baits in Maplewood also. You can also give them a call. I hope this helps.

I shoot through the bottom..  Use plumbers putty to make a ring and use some to keep the diversity in place.   I just add enough water to make a good conductor.  Works great.  No worries about snagging the ducer outside the boat.  As for finders I have an old fish eagle, buddy just picked up a battery operated color unit from amazon says it worked good.
