Just go North of Stark on "the hogsback road"
sorry can't remember the # and the access is about 1/2 mile up on the right before you get to the lake. Rushpointer should be able to fill in my info gaps.

Good Northern and Bass and panfish lake. I've heard that the dnr stocks walleye now but am not sure. I'm gonna check that out on their site right now. Good luck!

mm

Nope DNR does not stock walleye.

County Road #8, is the number, the access to Little Horseshoe is across the road, not stocked for walleyes either but, plenty of panfish.

Rabaur(sp?) Just up the road on township 63 is also a good spot(first left before FishLake Township Hall). It's the southern end of the four lake, Goose-lake chain, Walleyes, Northern and Crappies(8 inches or so), Take 8 north from Stark and then take the first left(on 63), the next right and then the next left. There are no signs to guide you, good luck! in finding it(Look it up on the MNDR Site)It's a hot spot for crappies late in the season over the 'one' deep hole, again check the MDNR lake maps to find the deep hole, I would not recommend a fish house out here until at least mid Jan. or early Feb.

thanks, found all the lakes mentioned, only saw two people out on lil horseshoe, so I stop and chatted, they were marking a few fish, but nothing biting, I tried a little closer to shore for sunfish, caught 4 really small and 5 perch only slightly better,
threw everything back, ice was good and clear 6-8 inches
but I did'nt wander to the middle

I also have a north facing cabin at the bottom of the hill and I have the Weboost as well.  without it I just barely have reception and with it mounted to the outside of the cabin I can get enough reception for calla and texts (2-3 bars) and slow internet. I plan on mounting it in a tree this spring and should get better reception yet. I paid $399 at best buy for mine about a year ago.

cg2, Welcome to the forum.   You may try looking at the DNR Lake finder site to look up some of the lakes in your new area for their test results.  Good luck.

Hello all,   I am new to the area and don't know where to begin fishing. I'm looking for a lake around Mankato that has walleye / crappies in it. I would like to make it out a few times this fall yet and then hit the ice hard. Any advice on what lakes to start with? There's so many that I don't know how to choose which one to go to.

Gonna try and get out for a bit over the weekend and hit some shore spots. Will post a report if they bite.

Arrowed my first in the fall of 1968, just a few days ago it seems. Last year did not go. This year not going. I could write a book with memories from archery and rifle and slug.   Withdrawals are bad but been slug hunting with son in laws family for 3 years now.  That is helping the addiction big time.  I wish you all, whatever kind of kill that deer method you prefer,  a nice smelly gut pile.

Thinking of trying a few spots like this tomorrow. I’ve covered the whole lake so hopefully that works. I know once I find em I’ll hammer them

I have good luck on a couple spots with steep drop offs and weeds close to the drop. I anchor shallow and cast out to the drop.
