Everyone must be fishing the Fall bite real heavy. There have not been any post here for a while. I thought I would see what I could start. How has everyone been doing in this area? Let's here it guys. Haven't been out myself but reading about everyone's experience keeps me going when I can't.

Thanks,

FishorDie,

I've been waterfowl hunting in the area, but no fishing. The duck/goose hunting has been pretty decent. A buddy of mine has been fishing Rush quite a bit for walleyes with sporadic results. However, he's caught some real big fish (a couple 28 inchers). But, he's caught some real small fish too.

Hey Bornofice!
Since you brought it up, I'm thinking of running up to my folks place Thursday (7 miles ne of Cambridge) and jumping potholes. Are the small ponds frozen or open up there? Thanks!

MM,

I was hunting North and West of Stanchfield and yes the small ponds had some skim ice. Not completely coated, but some ice. There was even a little skim ice on the slough we hunted (Mud Lake). I think you'll be OK on Thursday if the wind stays up when it's cold. We (3 of us) killed 6 geese, 6 mallards, and a gadwall. There were a fair number of mallards around, but they were traveling in bigger groups and were very hesitant about committing to the decoys. I suspect that may have been a product of lack of wind. The geese, however, were suicidal.

Let us know how it goes for you.

I fished Pine lake near Finlayson on Sunday for about three hours. We picked up 5 walleyes with a fathead on 3/8 oz Firetiger jig. They were in about 16-22' we got a 14,17,17,18,and a 21. On Saturday we fished Long Lake in Rutledge. Tried for panfish all day but only managed to get 5. We were marking a lot of fish but could not get them to bite. I may try again next weekend someplace in the metro as I have to get the yard work done.

Sorry Bornofice. I have no report. Fate intervened and kept me stuck at home. I don't think the ducks are totally done yet. So if I do get out I'll let you know.

Fished Goose this afternoon mostly around the narrows. No walleyes but northerns were biting freely. Had been told by a guy on shore that walleyes had been hitting around the bridge area low light and night. Saw flocks of bluebills, mallards, and geese. I also saw a lady at Fish Lake Bait register a monster size buck, about a 10 or 12 non-typical with heavy beams and a huge inside spread. Nice to be out!
