We got about 4" last night.Even though the tenters by the lake didnt think so, the lakes around here sure needed that.Jessie has come up about 6" so far,but we still could use some more rain.
Some nice fish were caught before the storm including a 27" walleye.

I great we finally got some rain, hard time getting the boat off the lift, looks like more heading that way today. The eye action seems to have picked up lately, the nice eaters are hitting, put back a few big ones 19+, and another pout. That makes 4 for the year.

That's great news, using an oar to get to and away from the dock is not much fun. Jessie was as low as I've ever seen it over the 4th of July weekend, hopefully the levels will continue to rise. I caught only three walleyes for that weekend, but they were all over my 20" personal slot limit, including a 26"er, all are still swimming in Jessie.

A 'pout in the summer? Interesting, I thought dem tings only ate in the winter. LOL

Being the sensitive man I am, I also got a nasty case of swimmers itch while clearing a small area around the dock. grin.gif The look of my legs would scare away the masses. shocked.gif

Here's to hoping the rain gods continue to pour down on Jessie.

Duffman,
From what i seen from the lake those legs could scare off the masses without the itch tongue.gif. With the warmer temps anywhere on the beach in the small weeds your going to get itch. Just make sure you are wearing a suit for protection if you know what i mean. When is the next ime you are up?

Got a new boat smile.gif, Black Lund Rebel w/yam, so dont stop the blue lund, thats my son or dad.

Hey now Mike! At least I kept my shirt on! grin.gif

I'm not sure when I'll be up next. Summer plans are filling up fast. I'm camping weekends on both sides of Labor Day weekend. So I'll probably hang in the cities for the holiday weekend. Do you have a neighbor on either side of you that I could leave them aerial photo plots of Jessie with, if you are not around?

I suppose I could drop one off with Tim O at the green house wink.gif down at Jessie View. Any interest Tim?

Holy Deadheads Batman! Be careful to anyone not familiar with Jessie, I saw plenty of deadheads on my mythical Smallmouth hunt. I'm sure there have been a couple of lower units that unfortunately found them this year already.

You can leave them with Tim O or leave them with Blacky he is the Maroon cabin second from the opposite end of the road you are on. The cabin with the White Lund. I may be up next weekend and then labor day weekend.

Sure, you can leave them here with us.
Had a big deadhead right out in front of the resort in about 15' of water. It was 18" below the surface and I hit while testing a rental motor. Good thing I had the tilt lever up so there was no damage.
Went back out with the pontoon to pull it in and we could not find it. I have pulled out about 5 already this year.
We have not had any body get swimmers itch yet, but I suppose it is that time of the year.

I don't want nobody "breaking the seal" in my lake--use your empty Mountain Dew bottle  🤔 (But seriously, I hope the DNR isn't so blinded by the AIS lingo in proposal that they don't seen how blatantly and dramatically it will decrease access...   Furthermore, I can't believe every lake-association isn't watching this intently;  ready to file their own versions as soon as they see what the outcome is...)

You get the seal and drive away.   Who will break the seal at minnetonka or Mille Lacs or White Bear or Osakis or whatever?   This is the first I heard of this seal business.  I would certainly be interested in how it is supposed to work.      I can imagine how something like this would possibly work but it would need to be a statewide thing, or even multi state.      Right now, I go to the cleaning station and get inspected and get the seal.    Sometime later I show up at an access and they look at my seal to see if I am allowed to launch.   Is that how it works?    Does the seal have a timestamp?   Is the seal where my boat connects to the trailer, so launching boat automatically breaks it?   Somebody has to break it?     So many questions.... And it isn't even a lake where I go....

^^ thats what i thought.  Just needed confirmation.  Here is a picture looking East from Nelson landing Monday 3-25 (Not my picture, stolen from Facebook) Shouldn't be too long now.  It seems to always hang up on the final stretch haha!

Sort of!!?   Spring hockey practice starts April 8th.  5-6 practices for the month only.  BUT, ...April means the start of Travel and JVL baseball as well.     It is turkey season(scouting anyway),  I can work around athletics!

I wouldn’t turn it down.  That and another burger stop. 😋     Is hockey done now?

The water rushing at the falls in Big falls is a yearly occurrence.  No big alarm this time of year.  Big falls is a long ways from the Rainy.   Now, the if the ice capped river builds a up ton of pressure and it has a sudden blowout, that will certainly change things.  The temps forecasted are working in our favor, a nice slow/normal melt.   The Big fork seems to have a lesser impact than the Little Fork.  We should be ok for a couple weeks I HOPE!

Heard one can see open water from the Nelson (Birchdale) access this afternoon. It is getting close.

Gotcha. If you need a scout out this way,  just let me know.   Spotted 6 more this afternoon right near the house.  They usually dont show hear till mid season.

Last year’s spot will likely be my fall back spot, along with maybe checking in at that other place you mentioned before.  The good news is I just heard today the birds appear to be doing well at last year’s spot.   The “new” spot is a property that we seem to have “limited” permission on.

one would think the river might be a little tough to fish this time of the year with the current flood situations and raised water levels along the river.
