De-weeding of Weaver Lake = Bad timing

Brought the black lab to get a dip in the water yesterday because she was looking for a swim.

Waaver Lake beach was packed so I thought the landing, because thought not to many boats on a small lake.

I pulled up and besides entire landing full of boats, they had a 8 foot high 70+ foot long of weeds... Really Stinky weeds at that.

Does the DNR do that on selected lakes or was this the milfoil being pulled out. To my knowledge they have not found it in there yet.

Should they not wait till after the spanning period or is it good to do it prior so the spanning fish don't sit in the open and easy to take off the beds?

Any comments

taxmancommeth,

They did the same thing on Crystal on opener for a week, I think it has to do some damage to spawning. Fishing is really bad when they do that, fish are all over and stressed. I feel it should be done a few weeks later.

Didn't they lower it 7-8 years ago to control milfoil at the inlet and outlet?

They have been pulling that big pile of weeds out of that lake for as long as I can remember. As far as I know I have not seen that on any other lakes. Once you get on the lake it doesn't even look like the did anything.
