I responded to your question in the 'Equipment/Information' forum. Depending on your use, you probably don't need to go to the Meridian Marine unit...the Meridian Gold or even Meridian Color should suffice...

The Meridian Gold was one of my two finalists, losing out to the i-Finder Pro in the final decision.

Like anything the more money you want to put out, the more options you'll have. I personally own the Sportrak Pro (very similar). It will do everything you need it to do....and more. Has a huge memory that I havn't even touched (Im sure the Marine is about the same). Its durable and most important 'water proof', so you dont even have to think about taking it anywhere.

I will be buying a Lowarnce Ifinder with mapping. I am buying it at Thorne Bros and if i purchase the mapping software and GPS they will set up for a few dollars off. Total unti should run about $300. A great unit I have also heard alot about is the Garmin 176C, this has a color screen and can also be purchased at Thorne Bros in Minneapolis. The problem with this unit is after one spends the $450 for the unit it takes two more programs to load the maps, sounds like you would be all said and done for around $650. If money is a concern go with the Lowarnce Ifinder, best GPS/mapping for the money out there!

I picked up a IFinder Pro last week. I think it has the best features for the money. Takes Navionic chips or you and download any of the other map software.
