Especially when you aren't going anywhere. I'm actually getting rid of the internet service for awhile. The Mrs. Mistermom and I are going into money saving mode to save up for a property buy. So we are cutting out some expenses.

Oh I suppose I could go get a job and do my surfing at work like a lot do; but I'm not that ambitious. I will probably pop into the library and use the computor there every so often. Wally says I should hook up with netzero. I might look into that too.

Now if you will excuse me I need to get ready for tomorrow. I'm going drinking/fishing with "The Bronson Boys." We are gonna run a 35 horse 2 stroke on Basswood Lake and then have a smallmouth fish fry..... Just kidding! Later Folks!

Why eat the whole smallmouth, when it's really only the top half of the back-fillet that's any good? Trick is - ya gotta catch big ones - 18" and up, or the meat-take just isn't worth it. wink.gif

See ya 'round.

Haven't you heard of Juno? Free internet access, you just put up with their banner adds.

There is no end to stuff I haven't heard of. I will look into the Junea and Netzero thing. Thanks!

What about the pile of money you roll around in the basements. Surely some of that could be forked over for some internet.

Sorry Sci!
School district needed more money so the pile of money went into higher property taxes. Maybe I could come hang out with you at work and post there?

Also checked into the Junea and Netzero. Alas, I am a Mac user and it isn't free for Macs. Curse you Bill Gates!

See you around Aqua!

My service is supposed to get cut off today. So I am hyper-posting until it is gone or Hennepin County comes and hauls me away for child neglect.

I don't know if I could do without internet anymore. A few days out camping and I can't wait to get back and check out what is happening on fishingminnesota.com and email.

There has to be a 12 step program out there somewhere, if not there needs to be one grin.gif

Hope to see ya back here soon!!

For some reason or another Qwest hasn't shut me down. This could be like a farewell tour or a going out of business sale and just go on and on and on.......

mistermom,
Did you have any luck finding a free ISP? You can't really give up the internet, can you? I think your addicted, just like the rest of us... grin.gif

That is the problem. It is to addicting. I haven't got a boss here to tell me to knock it off and get some work done (until Mrs. Mistermom gets home).

Hey Ghotierman! As long as I'm still functioning here have you ever fished Guerney (sp) Lake this time of the year? It is the first lake that the Sauk River flows into after leaving Osakis. I've heard that the walleyes stack up where the river flows in and its a nice shore fishing spot. I would like to try it next time I'm out there. Later folks.

Mistermom,
I live in Sauk Centre and haven't really heard anything going on Guerney lately. The opener of 2001 a lot of guys caught a lot of walleyes in the current. Since then I haven't heard anything except there was an excellent crappie and sunny bite last winter. I did catch my largest dogfish to date out of Guerney, they are thick in the whole Sauk River chain between Osakis and Sauk. Good luck.

No idea who that is.  Had to look it up though.  Born in 1911 and died in 1975.  That explains why I've never heard of him.

Fished Tuesday-Thursday.  Caught a lot of 9-12 inch walleyes.  The only walleyes I caught over 12 inches were two 13 inchers and the pictured 22 inch.  Don't know where the quality eaters went.  Best action was 11am-4pm.  The walleyes were stuck on the bottom so I set my bobber so the minnow could just reach the bottom.  Then I would occasionally raise it up to entice them to bite.  Got numerous bites as I was setting the depth.  Neither the Y-store nor Vermilion Fuel & Food had rainbows so I settled on pike suckers and chubs.  Didn't catch a walleye on pike suckers the first morning so I just stuck with the chubs the rest of the trip.   Good luck fishing and enjoy the lake.

Was up Tuesday-Thursday.  Travel by snowmobile was much better than 2 weeks ago, but still fairly bumpy.  Didn't hit any slush, but I didn't travel much off road.   There is only one road plowed out from McKinley Park now.  It heads toward the first group of fish houses to the right then turns toward Birch Island by that village.  This road was very wide and well cleared before last nights light snow.  Don't know if the wind caused much drifting with this snow.  The good road goes to just before the west end of Birch Island, then there is a small plowed road that goes behind the north side.  The slush spot from 2 weeks ago has frozen and the road is now straightened out there.  There are numerous small spur roads plowed off of the main road.  A few spurs about half way out hit some heavy slush, so that is still a concern if going off-road.   Good luck if you venture out, and be careful and courteous.  Enjoy the lake.

Well yes, as a matter of fact I do. 🙂   Planning on heading out this afternoon to play in the arctic blast for the weekend.

I don't think there is such a thing as cheap and sturdy. For unbreakable you may have to get away from plastics or fish on claim days. ☺️
    • gimruis
Ballzout mounts are extremely sturdy.  They aren't cheap though.
