Where are the slots at?

I know the new slot limit (16"-18") is in place but, is there a better place to fish for slot fish than another? Does the south end hold more smaller fish than the north? Mud flats? Rocks? Gravel? Or, are all size of fish scattered across the pond? This may be a dumb question but, just curious.

First of all, there is no such thing as a dumb question, Dave!

I have asked myself the same question. As I gathered the fish reports yesterday I asked several of the resorts what size fish they have been catching, and where. And of course, the hardest size to find are the 16 to 18 inchers.

Izaty's launches have been fishing off of Spider Island and Pope's Point. They have been getting lots of 19 to 20 inchers.

I have been fishing just off Spider Island in 6 to 8 feet and most of the fish we caught were under 16 inches, (12 to 14 inches to be specific).

Last night, we tried just off Beach Reef out from Fr Hennepin and caught two 14 1/2 inchers right before 10:00.

Fisher's Resort launches on the northeast corner have been getting lots of "out of slot" fish as well.

Terry McQuoid reports catching lots of 20 to 25 inchers. He fishes the rocks, gravel, sand and mud.

It's pretty much a guess as to where they will be and when. Today it is overcast and cold. The fish should be shallow again, and you would think there would be a few 16 to 18 inchers mixed in.

I encourage input from anyone who has any thoughts on this one.

Thanks Lisa.......I was out yesterday all day. I caught small (12-15") to larger (22-25") Nothing in the old or new slot.
