Late-Ice Perch Questions

Hi, I am new to this board, and I am hoping that you guys can offer me some guidance in finding some perch. This winter has been my first fishing Mille Lacs, and I have made 3 trips so far. Our first trip was in mid-February, and went went out of Fisher's Resort on the east side. The guy there (I forget his name) was very helpful, and the roads were beautiful, wide, and well-marked. We set up late in the morning and proceeded to do very well, with the biggest perch pushing 14 inches, with nearly our limits of 10-12 inchers. Our second trip was early March after the infamous snowstorm, and Fishers had closed due to the inability to plow. We went out of Lakeside, and had a heck of a time finding out where we were, and where to go. Set up later than we would have liked, and only did OK. The next weekend, we went back to Lakeside, set up decently early, and proceeded to catch next to nothing, VERY slow fishing all around us. We moved and moved to no avail. I would like to get one more late-ice trip in, and I REALLY want to get into them thick, like everyone else I talk to seems to be doing. Are there any specific areas that are currently producing solid numbers of perch? I have only tried the East shore so far, would it be worth my while to try the southeast gravel? Any good resorts still maintaining roads down there? Am I just missing something? I really would love to get into some good perch action, and I know that this is the lake, and the time. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all very much.

I've been too busy with sport shows here lately to get out, but the word is that the perch fishing has been picking up. The mud and silt areas have been the place to be. I can't tell you about road conditions because I don't know. My next trip will be with the four wheeler or snowmobile.
