Again, As soon as Gullguide settles his ISP issues he will confirm this smile.gif

Thanks for that info P,
There will also be room available for camping in my front yard, for the event
on the big "V". smile.gif HooDoo point, is just a short boat ride down the bay, from my
place.

I have room for at least six tents and dock space for six as well. If you need to save a few bucks, or just want to be close to the guideman, you can send me an e-mail and I'll save you a spot. smile.gif

Guideman, I figured with your 6 spots and possibly a few spots in your neighbors yard that we would need to reserve only a couple of spots at the campground. We would all love to be as close to you as possible, maybe some of that luck will rub off, so let me know how many you can fit. grin.gif I have also stayed several times at the little ma and pa motel on the Vermilion river? just south of Sudan State Park. I'm sure that she would love to have some of us Southern Boys! smile.gif

Well, she might balk when she sees fishhead and some of the other fellas grin.gif

Let me know how many you think you can accomodate and what you think that we should do with the rest.

I have room for at least 6 in the yard and at the dock. I'm sure we can fit a few more tents, but the dock space is limited. HooDoo point is just a short
boat ride from my place (about 4 miles)
thats a short ride on Vermilion. smile.gif

I have already had one reservation for the weekend, if you plan on staying at my place, please let me know, so we can make sure we have enough room for all of you. smile.gif

GG and Paul,
You have resevations at my place, that
is three so far. We should be able to get as many as 10 tents in the area we have. Dock space is limited at my place
and at HooDoo but there are boat ramps
close by. smile.gif

I just found out that the DNR is in the process of switching over to another company to handle there reservations. Beginning in January the Connection will no longer be handling them. Not sure who the new company will be, but I do know you will now be able to do it online. When the info becomes available we will get it out to you.

Hey Guys,

Just bringing this back up and reminding all that are planning on fishing this event that you will need to call HooDoo point on Fri. 3/1 first thing in order to reserve your campsite. The weekend of the L.E.T.S series is also the Muskie opener so I'm sure campsites will be at a premium.

Guideman,
Do you have room for another tent in your yard on 5/31 - 6/1? If so, can you save a spot for Bob & Andy? If your docks are full, is there a place to pull up on shore, or what do you recommend?
Thanks.

Gull,

He's not a FM member. Noah J. You have us listed under the "current" roster.

I can't wait to get out and fish and meet all of you. This will be a blast. Heck with the competition, it's 4 weekends of fishing trips!!!

Hey Guys,
Unless you have really big tents, we can make room for all of you. smile.gif
Bring a power strip for your electrical
hook ups and bumpers for your boat.
Anybody that can bring firewood, please do so. See ya in 67 days. smile.gif

Guideman, Wondering if you have room for another tent? If not I have already reserved a spot at HooDoo point, but it sounds like everyone is planning on staying in your yard. Also, do you have space to park all of the trucks/trailers?

Guideman,

Just checking again to make sure you will have enough room for all of us. I know you offered you place which is very generous of you, but if you don't see enough room being there, I best get calling Hoo Doo.

Thanks
Hammer

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .
    • SkunkedAgain
Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!
    • PSU
How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st
