I need advice on trout streams around this area. I want to take my nephew trout fishing this weekend. I have the SE Mn stream map from the DNR but it seems to cut off this area. Either respond here, or jpvernier@earthlink.net. Thanks much for any info.

I lived in Kasson for many years. There might be a reason that it's cut off. For one thing, there aren't many streams or rivers, cept the zumbro river. Honestly, I have never trout fished it and never heard of anyone getting trout in it, or any of it's tributaries. I always went down south of rochester to the whitewater area.
Also, did you know dodge county is the only county in the state with out a lake? There are no lakes there!!

You're not going to find trout around the area that you want. I've lived around there my whole life (currently in Mantorville) and fished the area rivers a lot. No trout around there, at least not regularly catchable ones. A neighbor kid caught a nice rainbow below the dam in Mantorville last year but they are really, really rare. Plenty of smallies in the area streams but mostly suckers, chubs, and carp. If you want trout, head for Whitewater, trout run South of Chatfield, or Trout Creek North of Mazeppa. Plenty of trout streams an hours drive from Kasson/Byron, but nothing close.

The suckers are piled up beneath the Oronoco dam right now. Go have some fun there! Good luck!

sidecar pan fishin man

Its not trout stream fishing but when i was leaving foster arends in rochester today the dnr truck was stocking more trout into the lake. I asked him if I could go through the gate to get my canoe with my sidecar rig. He had to take a picture of the hog with a canoe behind it so his fellow workers didn't think he started drinking beer early today, he said........lol. He said all the stocked fish were from 1 to 2 pounds. It was very interesting watching how they stock the lake. I didn't think that many fish could fit into that small truck. Its not a stream but they still put up a great fight. Troy

Drove by Elysian on my way home this afternoon. Shoreline didn’t appear to be pulling away, view from the highway for what it’s worth.

Got the property surveyed today. Originally plotted back in 1968 and sure enough there where metal pipes marking 3 of the corners but who knows how long it would have taken me to find them. They placed a monument on the missing corner. Hopefully this warm weather sticks around, need to remove some trees and get the wheel house moved in. Thanks everyone for your responses!

Was out on the lake today. Easy 24-26" inches of hard ice yet.

Drove around the entire lake today. From the road it looks like the warm weather has melted most of the snow. Only saw about a half dozen people fishing. Ice isn’t pulling away from shore yet. Stopped at the Borden access and walked out a bit, kicked myself for not bringing the fishing equipment, easy travel out there.

Plastic PC is 3/4 x2 x3.5. Drilled shallow holes on the transom side for the adhesive to cling to. Pretty solid. Time will tell

No shutoff needed. Take a photo of how you mounted your transducer Alex.

Actually when I store the boat I take the unit off as well. Is it ok to have the power line just hanging out? Do I need a shut off switch?
