Recommended Posts

Taking the wife out ice fishing after Xmas, would like to hit one of these three lakes for walleye & crappie. She's never ice fished, so I want to keep her interested...

Anyone willing to share info on these lakes?

please post or email me a reply to tom.larson@atk.com

Thanks!!

I've never ice fished those lakes but I know they have ice fishing contests on Mrtyle lake and it usually has a few people on it in the summer when I drive by so there must some fish in there . If your in that area there is Echo lake down the road toward crane lake which I heard has good ice fishing and huge crappies . Inside Trails End resort bar area on the lake they have a few big ones mounted on the wall
hope you find some fish

LundExplorer, I have ice fished myrtle it has nice crappies and sun fish up tp a pound, you can go out of Myrtle Lake resort, head left to the far point. Echo also has a nice population of big crappies have done real well in the spring, Trails End resort should be able to give you some spots havent fished it in the winter, but summer they all were around a 1lb, so it has nice crappies. Good Luck

Anyone know if the ice on Elephant and or Blackduck is driveable with a small truck? Don't have a sled or a wheeler and the good spots never seem to be close to the access smile.gif

Was planning on fishing either blackduck or elephant this weekend, but staying in the Duluth area instead. Might be heading up there in two weekends. It would be great to hear how you did, ect... Never fished either lake but would like to entertain myself for a weekend. Good luck
