Lake Darling

Heading up to stay on Darling in a few weeks. I've fished the lake a handful of times in the past, and always done well with bass, pike and panfish. For walleyes, are there any spots on Darling worth trying, or should I venture over to Carlos or another lake? The last time I fished walleyes on Darling we only caught one and that was around the entry to Little Darling on the NW side.

Thanks.

Try where the channel from Cowdry flows in. This can be a great spot in the early spring and fall...current flows pretty good...casting rap's or jigging shiners. This time of year you may want to explore the first break out from there. Also try the channel area between Darling and Carlos...again, from the breakline up to the shallows in the evening. Lindy rig and leech might be the ticket.

good luck.

We'll be up there this Saturday (6/14). Thanks for the tips. I do recall the last time we stayed at Viking Trail the same few boats were always anchored where the creek comes in from Cowdry (next to cabin #1). I'll have to give it a shot and try a lindy/leech or jig/minnow combo. I guess if nothing happens there I'll make the 15 minute trip with the 9.9 Evinrude over to Carlos.

Our club had a tourny on the chain over the past weekend and I thought I would give you the information that produced some bass for us. On Carlos and Darling our fish came on Sinkos, pre-rigged worms, cranks, and tubes. using the senkos we caught them the basic slow way. casting them out letting them fall and pick up the slack line, fish there hit it, if not bring it in again and cast again. The pre-rigged worm, black and blue colors. Cranks, we used baby-1s in a black blue finish with a white bottome and also a cray fish pattern. Tubes, green, pumpkin seed colors. We were fishing on the flats that had some deep water close by. A good spot to find this would be on Darling. Right when you get into the lake from Carlos, fish the left shorline, starting about a 3 blocks downa dn fishing it till you need to go between the boyos. (Spelling?)
On La Hommi Deu, caught fishng on White spinner baits with some blue on the blades, chartreus ones and also cchartreus traps. The fish did not seem to want to hit anything just white.

Hope this helps some.
