Fished from 9-1pm today with some nice weather moving in. Caught one perch. 15 other folks on the ice. Lots of people drilling holes and moving about. Had to try it once. Grass shrimp seemed to be the favorite bait. I have only had success getting trout with such bait. Try Try Try.

Thanks for Posting! I am looking forward to getting some late ice gills. Thanks for keeping us all informed. I have never used shrimp but friends have told me that is what they use and they are great.

NELS-BELLS

I fished on the north part of Osakis yesterday afternoon. The weather was awsome which made for lots of water on the ice and lots of open holes. I hole hoped and managed to catch 7 nice gills. It looked like people around were doing about the same. Grass shrimp seemed to be the ticket.
About 5 I moved down the lake and set up for Crappies in about 34'. They started to bite about 6:30 and didn't stop until about 8. I kept 9 and threw back about the same amount because they were too small. Minnows worked the best.
All and all it was a great day fishing. Did I mention the weather was awesome?

Hey Buzzer, I just came back from Osakis, we have been catching some crappies by buck point. I tried out by the narrows tonight and came up empty handed. Drilled lots of holes and found sunnies and crappies galore, we watched them on the camera and they would just barely nibble til the bait was off. The crappies wouldn't even attempt to bite. Can't believe how many there were down there and still come home empty handed. I guess a few are better that none. Some of the crappies caught by buck point are Red lake sized, 1-1 1/2 pounds, but probably average a little less than 3/4. Good luck, hope this helps.

Pretty quiet in here.  I've been fishing out of town the past 2 weeks.  Hope to fish the area lakes this week.  Heard reports of a good day crank bite on the chain but not much else.  With the full moon coming up this week may try some evening trolling.  Anyone else having any luck?

Haven’t fished the river for weeks and came home to high, muddy water so I doubt I will for another week.  I’d focus on shorelines and whatever backwater I could find at this time if I did go.

It was slow for me Tuesday afternoon and Thursday in Frazer / Smarts Bay. Wednesday was very good in 20-25 feet leeches / crawlers on a Lindy or a jig. Absolutely beautiful weather!

My wife and I had a good morning on Friday with bottom bouncers, spinners and crawlers in 20-24 ft.  Caught 9, threw back 3 18-19 in, 2 13-14 in.

I would head over the hill into the back country and fish the streams and lakes. You will have much better success catching fish. Bring bug spray

Lori has some nice gills and some okay crappies normally. Green has nicer sized crappies and gills. Ann lake has been kicking out some great fish. Check out fishing club.

Streams won’t have much of anything to offer this time of year. Maybe a couple tiny smolt rainbows. There are all kinds of shorefishing spots in the area though. Stream mouths are always the obvious spots to try. Spoons and spinners.

How was the trip? I was on the lake Tuesday and the weather was as good as it gets!

For those looking for some decent perch they seem to be hanging in the reeds chasing crawfish and minnows.   Some real dandies in there if you're in the right patch of reeds.  Not many out on the flats yet.

Been a tough bite the last couple days for me. Catching a few here and there but no consistency. Caught fish on crawlers leechesand jigging raps but for the amount of fish I’m graphing not near enough catching All my bigger fish have came on the jigging raps. How is everyone else doing?
