Where to go?

My buddy and I are coming up to the Alexandria area and we are looking for a clean yet reasonable place to stay and a great lake to fish Walleye on. We have a small 16' boat and we are willing to trailer up and move to another near by lake if the fish are not biting. Docking the boat would be a plus but not a must. I have fished Reno and Minniwaska before. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Lots of water to choose from. If you're familiar with Reno and Minnewaska, they're good choices to start. Then there is the Chain, which offers 5 lakes or more...with a small boat you can get back into Victoria, on the bottom of the chain...or back into Cowdry, Brophy, Taylor and Union...all of which offer great bass fishing, and some nice 'eyes. Other small off the beaten path waters to check out would include Mina, Stowes, Mill, Ann. No matter where you stay, you can trailer to any of these lakes in less than 20 minutes. Miltona and Ida would round out the big water...you could spend a couple days on either lake and only scratch the potential. Check some other posts on this forum (re: Mary and others) and check the DNR website for lake info in Douglas County. You can formulate a plan of attack by choosing lakes you'd like to fish/explore based on the creel survey information.

When you've got it narrowed down... to lake and dates...give us a call, and we'll let you know the latest info.

good luck!
