I will most likely sign up too..
what about a 3 year old boy.. free or pay??

as of right now i dont see any obsticles in the way for that weekend, but have to check with the wifey..

hey IBOTS,, if she goes, its gonna take a hell of alot of convincing for her to clamp, but i think between the powers of the triangle and IBOT power, that might be enough to get her a$% clamped!!!lol..

I should know in the next couple of days if we can make it..

later

jiggle, it'll be more than just the two of us. smile.gif Five for sure, possibly seven, with two IBOT's (the other one is AJ, IBOT #60-something - the one who had tears in his eyes when he was saying how clmaping didn;t hurt that bad).

I'll sign at least the five of us up tomorrow.

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in sharing a cabin rental the weekend of the ice leaders at red. I stayed at a cabin last weekend that was really nice at 120 dollars a night. The cabin had two rooms and a loft plus a couch,I have 2 guys and room for 3 to 5 more people without doubling up, maybe some on cots. I wanted to check around to see if anyone else is interested so I could reserve this cabin,if you are contact me at [email protected] or cell at 651-210-9640, name is Bruce.

this has been done before, and i guess i'll do it again! here you go hard h2o.

the upper red lake has been famous for it's mystical powers know as the upper red lake triangle. like it's lesser known counter-part, the bermuda triangle, it has been held responsible for several past, and ongoing unfortunate incidents. there have been planes gone down trucks gone through, compasses have been known to spin and spin, sending folks in directions unknown. it can be subtle like sucking your flashlight out of your hand and down the hole, or it has been known to suck a person in head first. thank god it was only an eight inch hole!! any time you venture out into this area, you take the chance of becoming a victom of the forces held within. to ward off such forces we have banded together, calling on strength in numbers. it has worked with much success, but it is not fool proof. you can if you like purchase the only known tool for reflecting the powers of the triangle, one of my hand made, hand pounded, one size fits all lead body suit. though cumbersome, they do work. this is where the clamping comes in. the lead depth bombs we use for fishing every day, are made out of worn and depleated body suits, which are melted down and used to make the clamps.the new candidate places the clamp on his/her nose hanging underneath between the nostrils for a specified count, and to be witnessed by a charter member. the ritual known as clamping represents ones dedication, and willingness to go forth into the triangle, and endure the hardships that may certainly lie ahead. that is it in a nutshell. this information is for all to use to their own good, and for the benefit of all.

if you really want to find out what these I.B.O.T.'s are all about, sign up and attend the ice series contest on red lake the 21st of feb, and the low get together, then the grand slam of it all...I.B.O.T. FEST!!!hope this helps

keep your stick on the ice!! jigglestick, I.B.O.T. #5

Jigglestick, I just got off the phone with your dad. Now I know the real story about how this clamping stuff got started. He sounded to me like a man with a high threshold for pain.

Well, not exactly, it was a snowblower. He wanted to trade me for a gun I have for sale on another site. After a lengthy conversation, we got to talking about this site and clamping and who knows what else? I like to talk, but Isure met my match last night! Just kidding PUTZ. It was good to talk to you. I will be up to URL Feb. 13th on my way up to LOW. I sure hope you have the decency to identify yourself before attempting to scam a beer out of me by suggesting a clamping contest wink.gif

👍. What was the water temp in Black Bay? Thanks....

      No, that wasn't me.  I drive a 621 Ranger.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!
    • Brianf.
Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
    • smurfy
got mine done........for the cabin.....ready for summer festivities!!!!!!   there was still frost in the ground...........but good gawd are the lakes low!!!!!
    • CigarGuy
      Just 1, 50" muskie🫣
    • SkunkedAgain
How many walleye were on the stringer on their way out???
