i will start writing down on paper, items people are bringing, as to keep a rough list, only to see if something was grossly overlooked. the beans sound great!
H.G.-- let me know what you are bringing one more time, or i can just scroll back(which i will do anyways) and look at the posts. it would be nice if every one could bring something, but i think that would be overkill. if the S.O.B.O.T.'s (spouses of the I.B.O.T.'s) would chime in, or some how let me know.
any kind of salads, or hot dish's(well allmost any kind grin.gif ) if any body has a pop-up awning or any other kind of shade device. i have one, and it takes up no room, and sets up quick. not sure how many chairs are available, but a few lawn chairs might not be a bad idea. not sure how many tables are available either, but anything would help. i know we have some of each, but just trying to play safe. plates and beer--er beverage cups forks spoons etc sounds like H.G. has that covered? pipe on in here, and i will put pen to paper, and compile this list. we will fine tune as we go.
message to any one with a suggestion, contribution, question, or gripe, either email me or call me. [email protected]

Greetings,

What time are we gathering at the ball park??? I suppose that depends on Friday nights training fluid consumption! I'll be staying in Funkley friday night and training down there so I don't wanna get up any earlier than necessary.

Hastings Gal - Putting you in the cooler huh? Would that be like a wet T-Shirt contest sorta thing? Great Idea!

Jigglestick - When you get your list compiled let me know what you are missing and I'll fill in one of the gaps.

Roadkill - Heck of a lot easier to make the shirts all the same (no numbers). That way what doesn't sell next weekend can be sold to new members as the membership swells into the thousands.

Will I need an extension? See ya Saturday.

Ninetoe: Nope - the kraut wouldn't cut his hair so we sent him back to the Father Land at the end of the school year. He WAS a good shat we'll miss him this fall.

Where's the ball field - what time?

Greg , the ball field is over by the access on the east side of the highway. Take the first right after the river, then take another right and youll see it. The talk is eating at 1pm... I would guess there will be some consumption prior to that though! smile.gif

well, as every one is getting over their self induced comas from the hillman blast, my weekend of obligatory pains in the a$$ is but a memory. it wasn't that bad i guess. managed to up my tolerance a little smile.gif
the kids have their cerimonial official I.B.O.T. haircuts grin.gif i'm not sure how long the silent treatment will last, but at least i didn't cut my daughters hair HEHEHE. i think i would not have to worry about the silent treatment shocked.gif if i had done that. even got the neighbor kid grin.gif hope his mom doesn't see it. i told him he should wear a base ball cap when he goes home. i think they are all out spraying on miracle grow on the backs of their heads. i was laughing so hard i could hardly finish.

there are some things after i compiled the list of things people are bringing, that we could use.
they are
potatoe salad
macaroni salads
bars/ cookies
soda's/juice boxes for the kids--h.g. i know you are bringing some, i just figured a few more would not hurt. i think there will be plenty of kids there.
tin foil,
if possible, mark your containers so we can get them back to you afterward.
any ideas, last minute thoughts , let me know. we have a couple of dining canopies, but a couple more wouldn't hurt. i know we will make this work.

for those looking to stay at the camp ground, they are first come first served basis. i called them saturday. there should be plenty of room, i will have the barge there for shuttle service.

thanks again, jigglestick

Great Idea!

Encourage your kids to bring a football, bat and ball, kickball, jump rope, hulla hoop, or whatever they like to play with that can be shared with the other youngsters.

The bubbles was a great idea! smile.gif

Just a couple of thoughts
Bring your own chairs - extra's if you have them.
Make sure to bring bug spray or did all of the state birds disappear grin.gif. Better yet does anyone have the Misquitoe Deleto by Coleman? I do have a bottle of Misquito Beater it works good - you can buy it at Walmart or Ace Hardware stores kinda spendy though.
Is there enough dry firewood for a possible campfire?

Make sure to remember sunscreen - I am throwing a bottle in the boat as well as the truck forgot it on the 4th at Mille Lacs - paying for it too.

Did the shoreline clean up ever materialize if so when is it? Should the four wheeler be in the back of the truck this trip or are there enough up there or on the way?

Is there going to be a Guest sign in sheet? It would be nice to have an ongoing list for future IBOT get togethers.
Keep Smiling only 88 hours until we leave.

HG all good ideas and thinking about the kids was cool russ, you both are allright!

I think it would be cool to get everyones email on a sheet and we could do broadcast emails to announce future functions and metro chapter meetings. A list of cell numbers would also be cool, that way when 9-Toe gets stuck (again) he can speed dial for help.

Still smiling dancing bear counting down the days

a sign in book was on my list, but i was trying to think about what to use to be proper. just a note book? i don't know.

H.G. if your 4 wheeler will fit into the back of your rig, then by all means, bring it. don't worry putz the hauler will get plenty of autographs. i have the ideal trailer to pull along for trash, but not sure how to get it there. i will cross that bridge when i get there.
another idea that was brought to light by brother labs, was the buddy system for kids. if they have a friend they can bring for the weekend, and you have room, bring them along to help keep them occupied. we love new recruits. there will be plenty of kids either way, some just feel more comfortable with a buddy they know, amongst strangers.

now as this thing draws nearer, i would like to make clear, one of our members who has been pretty absent from this planning phase should be in now way left out. there are many people who are looking forward to seeing/meeting him. i would like to make a personal request for ole number 7 to do his best to find time in his hectic schedule to show up, and help us kill the hog, and training fluid. as i recall, i can't say i remember seeing him clamp either....??? shocked.gif
tic toc...tic toc....oh the anticipation smile.gif

Since there going to be several future young fishermen and young fisher ladys there , under the leagle age, there going to get kind of board, so were bringing several bottles of bubbles, a few color books and crayons, a floating tube, etc for the younger ones drawing box,(were looking at ages) 3-10 , a Russ&Judy cap or 2 for adult drawing, or inbetween ages box ages 11- to past Putz's age;
we may have opened a pandoras box , but what the heck!!! its for the kids too, right?

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .
    • SkunkedAgain
Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!
    • PSU
How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st
    • leech~~
As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!
