How about good trout lake

Just wondering if somebody would be willing to share their knowledge on this subject.Is there a lake in the vicinity of upper red that has a fair number of stocked trout that we could hit on our annual ice trip in Jan.We wont have a sled,but will have a 4 wheel drive.Would be willing to walk in up to a mile,If the snow isnt #**#& deep.I have seen some of the listings of lakes from the DNR,but was hoping to find one not so popular.

Did you see Benjamin Lake on your stocked trout lake search? It's off Country Road 39 about 5 miles from Blackduck. They've been stocking it every year with Rainbows, and the average catch size is suppose to be 11"-12", so you may want to check it out on the DNR site.

Very sorry about that. The forestry office had thought that you could since it is not located in Cass County, but Beltrami County. After four telephone calls with the DNR in Bemidji they said that the only trout lakes that can be fished in the winter in this area are in Clearwater County.
