Input on Safe heater

Spunky

Recommended Posts

I have got an old camper that we made into a sleeper house and I would like to know if anybody could help me out on what kind of
heater I should use in it? I have heard good things about the buddy heater but is it safe for a sleeper?

Spunky,

Mr Heater (buddy?) makes a unit that has an oxygen depletion sensor unit that will supposedly shut the heater down if there's a lack of oxygen. It still requires adequate ventilation though, as it can give off carbon monoxide.

I personally wouldnt consider sleeping in a house that had a non vented stove in it. Look at the strikemaster stoves, very nice, easy to install, compact in size and not too expensive. Still wouldnt hurt to have a small vent hole or two to let some fresh air in. I also wonder if a buddy heater would have enough btu to heat a camper size house.

I have a buddy heater for my portable. It is a nice heater, and has an oxygen sensor, but you would probably have to have two to heat a camper. I would go with a vented gas heater.

Ditto the vented gas heater. Get a battery operated CO detector with any heater you put in there.

Thanks for your response and I have also been checking around and I am going to have to find something that can be vented, and I also already have a co detector for it. I know that the strikemaster makes a good heater, but you still have to have fresh air
for them. Thanks again, and this is what the forum is all about people helping people with friendly advice!!!
