Leech Lake Ice Fishing

Can you tell us about ice fishing on Leech Lake. Who has plowed access? Who has fish house rentals? Are there any Ice Fishing Guides-Who are they? What is your favorite species to fish for on leech?<P>Please answer any or all questions you can. When we go up to leech in the winter i have seen that Grand-Vu Lodge off of pine point plows roads out maybe a mile. They have house rentals too.

Because of my schedule following my son who plays high school hockey, it's too far to go for a day trip, I don't guide on Leech or Winnie in the Winter, just in the summer. <P>I can better accommodate people that are in town visting or on business. In the winter I'm on the following lakes, Tonka, Buffalo, Independence, Mille Lacs. a couple of small lakes for trout.<P>I have Frabill portable fish houses along with all the equipment and can take up to 6 people at a time. I can also handle corporate trips. What is the water temp? Main Lake & Walker Bay. How long until we start seeing some ice?<P>I like to fish the open water as long as I can, just looking for an idea of how long I have.

Thompson Rent All in Walker has a number of houses around Leech. I have been pleased with their service, rates, and fish house placement over the years. MANY roads are plowed all over Walker Bay, especially around Eel Pout festival time. The number I have for Thompson Rent All is 218-547-1252.

Water temps this weekend (surface) were between 44-46 on Agency and Walker and 42-43 on the big lake. This is the warmest water for deer hunting weekend I have seen in many years up there. My opinion is that we are 2 weeks behind normal.
