If you havent fried up a mess yet you are missing out. I fried up the 8" perch that Codeman made me clean and they were good. Yes you need a sharp knife. Shake in flower and fry in 1/2" of oil and enjoy. Well worth the effort. Please dont leave on the ice or twist there lips and throw back.

I love perch!! I fished out of Rogers yesterday (sat) and got my limit of 20 perch to take home for the pan. Usually a guy finds grubs in the perch, but not on the perch in Red. I was the only die hard out there yesterday without a shelter in that wind. It was ineteresting to say the least - went in for a few cups of coffee to warm up more than once. I didn't catch a single crappie! At least the perch made up for it (I think they taste better anyway!!!)

Clueless - -

I still say those bad boys looked a lot larger coming up the whole. You start fileting those Red Lake crappies and all of a sudden the perch magically shrink to half their original size. I know them perch were at least 16" earlier in the day. I'm glad you fried them up. I'll be frying crappies tonight. SWEET!!!!!!!

Hal, I was with Prunie on the last trip. He just swallows them whole. Can you legally eat 21 perch? Let us know when the crappies start hitting by your place. Will bring your best friend Carlo with us.
