Kelly--I see some "newbies" & also some guys at work asking/talking about driving across the pressure ridge. I say it is not wise...FOOLISH! What's your take on that "idea"?

Pressure ridges are bad news. They are constantly chamging and moving so they are always a very weak spot.

I have a question about the pressure ridge. I know it is not safe to drive across, but could a person walk across? I was thinking of parking near the ridge then crossing it on foot with my sled. Is this advisable or not? Also, has anyone been able to put a bridge over the pressure ridge yet?

Last Friday afternoon was beautiful. A perfect day for standing out on the ice and watching all the goings on. There were a few that were driving across the pressure ridge not far from us. The place where we were standing actually had open water at the ridge. We were expecting someone to drop thru at any time. I would never trust a pressure ridge. I've had a nasty experience once on one, always check with the locals!!

it is just past westwinds about 2 blocks
