Happy Holidays everyone! I'll be heading your direction after I return from my vacation. Do you have snow on the ice? If not, these cold nights should be making good ice.

kelly, i read your posts all the time and you seem really knowledgable about Big Red, I was down there about 15 times last year and had a blast almost every time. I was thinking of going down there on 12/29 and was wondering about ice conditions, crappie bite, best fishing times, which resort is best to go out from as I know the ice was really screwed up. Are they taking vehicles on the ice yet? Thanks for the info.

Hello All,
They are just starting to drive out in some areas. Reporting 10 to 14 inches of ice. The ice is not as rough as it appeared from shore, it does not look like it will real hard to move around. Full throttle across the lake will not be a very smart thing to do tho. The bite is still erratic but the weather has been very unsettled and people are just starting to look around.
There is enough snow on the lake for snowmobiles now.
