well, we are very proud to have helped in any way we could. It's more than sponsoring cribs, it means while sponsoring a crib we got to meet a lot of people. Money can't buy it. We love crappies and wish all the best for all. Kelly, thanks to you and all of the rest of the great people up there, we are really looking forward to our next trip, (If you look as ugly as you did last year Russ said "he'd come back one more time!")
Myself, I can't wait for ice. It's always a good time and I love the fishing.
Russ laughed at you guys when you got the first snow, guess what he's doing tonight with 10" on the ground? Trying to start the old snowblower for the last hour. Guess what? It will fire but won't start. I think he's getting a little upset.??? I didn't dare light a match in the garage cause he poured about a gallon of gas down the plug hole plus a can of starting fluid. Still wouldn't run. What's the logical solution after turning it over, kicking it, drop- kicking it, and almost torching it? Went to town and bought another one. It only took two hours to put it together (the directions say it takes ten minutes. I really thought he could do it in fifteen for sure. Guess he had a few problems hehehheheee!!!!) After a couple of snap fizzzz's, he finally figured it out. My kind of hero! The handles look kind of backwards but the gears shift. Not sure which direction it will go in reverse but we'll sure find out soon enough. He decided to not try it out today yet (we only have 6 to 8" on the ground with another 5" to come so why would he want to blow it tonight? He'll just have to do it again tomorrow. That must be male logic.Snapfizzzzzzzzzzzzz.) If you don't get ice up there pretty soon he's going to drive me to drink, (even Hamm's would work, but I prefer Old Mil.) That little squirrel is getting out of control, he needs ice and fish to give him his 'fix' and take the pressure off me. Help, help me, help me please!!! Any one else out there have this problem? If only I'd saved one package of crappies I could keep him under control a little longer and he'd sleep like a baby. Come on ICE!!!!!

Yo Judy,
Relax ,,,snow does not make ice but soon the cold will. Tonight I took a little spin out on the lake with the Mazda and it was a little soft yet,,,,, I would suggest that you wait a week or so until you send Russ walking out on the lake. grin.gif

Seeing as is some new interest in sponsoring crappie cribs I'll bring this topic back up.
It costs $250 per crib to sponsor. The name of the sponsor goes on the new lake map that has the cordinates of all the cribs. One map is at the printers right now and should be out soon. When the new cluster has been placed a new map will be printed with the cordinates of the new cluster added and the new sponsors added.
Checks should be mailed to
Crappie Crib Sponsors

Thanks everyone. smile.gif

I'm thinking about sponsoring a buoy to mount onto Halad's crib. It'll make it easier to find.

As I looked through the list of crib sponsors, I did not notice Roger's on the list. Do they contribute? In the past I have used their road 3-4 times a year. I would rather give my 5 bucks a trip to folks that are supporting the lake, IF Roger's isn't. Any of the locals have advice for me?

They do not support the Assn. because they said they are a family camping place and fish did nothing for their business.
Thanks for the interest and please support any of the other places as they all support us.

HMMM....he rents fish houses in the Winter to family campers? What do they do use them for warming houses while they are ice skating? I am sure there is a logical explanation for a resort like his not supporting a crib. I tried to book with him ths winter. He was full. Maybe next winter I will try again if I want to come up and "camp". I will call one of the crib sponsors if I decide to go fishing.

Kelly-P, & URLA, & All that help out with the "cribs",
Thanks for "doing what ya do", in maintaining & improving an environment ,a fishery, & a way of life, at Upper Red Lake! It allows us, our next generation, & those generations to follow, the opportunity to enjoy the results of your efforts & labors.

I'm "IN" again this year. "Check's in the Mail!", as they say... smile.gif

[This time it'll be, "more than a round of "Capt. M.", I think..."! wink.gifgrin.gif ]

See ya out there,or... Up there! wink.gif

P.S.- Keep my name out of the "funny papers", will ya! wink.gif

We have fished out of a couple differant resorts at Red the past two years. We havn't caught many of them big crappies. We will be coming back due in part to the hospitality we have recieved from all the people we have come across. Also because we want to get into them Slab Crappies!
If some of you don't think Rodgers is supporting your association I feel you don't see what they are doing by representing your community. This is priceless. They are very good people as are others we met in your comminity. Your fortunate to have them as neighbors.
Good Luck...

Kelly, could you give a little information on how many cribs are left to be put in, how much it costs to sponsor a crib and what we should do if we want to sponsor one.

I am sure this info is around but it has been awhile since this topic was started.

Thanks,

Scott
