spring walleys

Just wondering if any of you out there have went up for the spring walleye bite? Is there anywhere to stay or is everything booked already? When is the best bite up there. I know it kind of has to do with the ice out, but can any one out tell me where they go and what time in the sping is best.

Thats the hard part of spring fishing, is picking the "best" time. Some will say early ice-out is the best, less people/boats because you have to "man-handle" your boat over shore-ice. Many anglers prefer to wait until the ramps are open, where you can back your trailer and drop your boat. Lastly, there are some who will say the last part of the season is the best, more open water means more ramps available and more river open to disperse the boats.

There are many, many variables for spring fishing. Included but not limited to is: level, current, weather temperatures, snow on the ground, new snowfall or rain fall, run-off, frost in/out of the ground. All these along with weather patterns, such as wind/snow/rain will affect fishing.

NOW, the walleyes dont see it this way. They go by daylight, water temperature and spring feed. They will run for the spawn once mother nature gives them their signal. They don't care about high/low current, clarity etc.

Watch our web site starting in - oh let's say mid to late February. With the small amount of ice on the river, I, not predicting per se, but hopeful (?) for an earlier open season.

I have been up there the past 3 years found the best bite to be last two weekends. Two years ago the bite was incredible. Last year not as good but still good. I was wondering when the last weekend is this year. I know it is usually around mid- April. Need this in order to get reservations.

Went up the last weekend last year. Did very well.4 guys. 3 days. LOts of eyes. about a dozen 8+ lbs.
