my report oct 24-26th

got back last night from three days on the river. Had good luck on friday morning out in morris point gap area -five fish16 to 21 inches and 13 more in the 12 to14 inch range. Ate most of the smaller fish friday night.saturday was too windy for me to leave the river and the fishing was slow, only 4 fish one 20 inch released. sunday was less windy and was able to leave the river. caught 5 small fish and 1 23 incher . moved over to the area outside the lighthouse gap in 18 to 19 feet of water and finished out our limits with several more nice fish in the 16 to 19 inch range as well as quite a few in the 12 to 13 inch category. Gold and bubble gum jigs were doing ok for us but plenty of boats by us must have had selected good colors as well, judging by the landing nets. As we were leaving the river yesterday morning, we gave our minnows to a gentleman who was fishing across from the wheelers point landing and he said that he had just started hammering the bigger fish that morning.Our neighboring cabin at schusters had guys trailering each day up river to the frontier landing and doing well for bigger fish. One thing about the water levels. I myself dont know the gap area as well as some, having only been going up there a few years now. There is at least 3 and a half to four feet of water MOST places and no problem getting out to the gap. But i must admit coming back into the river on friday night, i went around the wrong side of a reed island and ended up in 6 inches of water. whew.. be careful

Yikes....Tons of deadheads on the east side of that reed island too, even when the water is up. Glad you did'nt bust anything up.

I'll second that thank you. I am hoping to get up for a day shot on Sunday. It's nice to hear a possitive report!
