I am planning my first trip to the Rainy River area and would like to know the best place to put in.

I just spent my first weekend at the Clementson Resort and had a blast. The fishing was good just down stream of the Clementson public access and IMOP the accommodations can not be beat! Rick and Sandee run a very nice place that is clean, quiet and friendly!

  Checked several lakes 6-7 inches. Wheelers on Dora, I'm sure by next weekend smurf there will be 8+. Only lake with open water was Caribou

  Checked a couple lakes today. Some lakes have goodish ice in the st cloud area. Eye guy and myself found one lake with right around 4 inches of clear hard ice.

  froze up but not enough for me. guy from rapids just told me he found mas of 4 50 yards out from the landing on split hand, 2 inches just off the Little winnie access, and 4 1/2 on some medium sized, shallow lakes around graves and north star. so the fish are safe till new years weekend.

  i just got some ice info from a guy in the grand rapids area...........most he found was 4 inches 50 yards out on split hand lake. least was 2 just off the access to Little Winnie...........so i'm staying home!!!!!!!

  I heard Baxter lake has a little over 4 inches but I have not been out to confirm that.

  My dad took a picture of a guy walking on Vails(mud) lake by Eden Valley on Monday. Not sure of thickness but it looked good in some areas and poor in others.
