Last year on Leech near the end of June we experienced a massive hatch of Hexegenia Limbata (May Flys)on Leech. It seemed to have put the fish off bite is it common? Thoughts were that they were keying on the nymphs or the emergers. If so what do you have to do to get them to bite?

T-290,
Darn good question. The hatch usually starts from around mid June and goes for a couple of weeks. If the weather cools down it tends to drag out the process. It can definetly be a bummer fishing during this time. You have to be patient. I try to stay away from the flats where there is alot hatching going on and concetrate on the weeds. You can pick up fish on the flats but you need to check your line often to keep it clean and just keep it in their face.
Terry's Guide Service
