Rainy River Update

Recommended Posts

The Rainy River level is back to "normal" with a current that allows the use of 3/8-oz jigs again. Clarity is good. Temperature yesterday was 73.5 degrees. We are in a stable weather pattern for the next week, so fishing should only get better. Anglers are catching nice eater size walleyes drifting using a lindy set-up with a spinner using minnows or crawlers. Lots of northerns are hitting too. Sturgeon are jumping!

What can a guy expect next weekend (18th)on the river. I'd like to chase Smallmouth, Walleye, Sturgeon, and maybe even a Muskie.
I haven't fished the river much expect in the early spring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Trolling or casting crank baits along the shorlines will produce. Rocky areas will have smallies. Crawlers and spinners work well when trolling or anchor and work a spinner in the current for walleye and sturgeon or jigs
with crawlers or minnows. Favorite crank colors are crawdad, clown, fire tiger
