Horseshoe access

How are the acceses on the Horseshoe chain? Is the one off 22 fairly deep. I know it is in that back channel and looks like it may be shallow. Also, is the access of 23 right when you get in cold spring actually on the lake or on the sauk river? If it is on the river is the lake accesable entering up from the river access or is depth an issue? Finaly, any one been catching any cats? I see a few spots on my maps on the part of the lake (starts with a "k" I think it is knaus lake??) but I can't tell if the access there is on the river or actualy on the lake. I would appreciate any info. Thanks

the 22 access is about 4 to 5 ft all the way into the lake stay in the middle and its good i never hit anything i leave my motor all the way down hope this helps

The launch on 22 is on the river near the mouth. We recently put in a Crestliner w/ a 115 and had no problem at all. There are a few shallow spots when you hit the mouth & when you head into Cedar Island. Nothing to really worry about though. The cats are everywhere on the chain. Try fishing cut-bait in the holes, bridge areas & any wood in the river channel which runs through the chain. I've had a blast just throwing cut-bait under over-hanging trees & docks. I've also caught plenty while fishing for other species. Walleye fishing w/ live bait & cranks, panfishing & even spinnerbaits in the pads. Good luck, Vern
