Richmond - Chain Of Lakes

Recommended Posts

There sure are! The Horseshoe chain can be a fantastic fishery at times. There are several public access points throughout the chain! I would go to the St. Cloud area lakes forum. There are some pretty good guys in there that will give you the low down! Good luck!

I was thinking bout heading over to Richmond, which is southwest of St Cloud on 23 i think? I was wondering if there are any open lake access where I can launch the boat and where can I go to catch, BASS, Pikes and eyes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Webwarrior, Take 23 to Richmond. Jut past Southside bait you will see 22 on your right. Take 22 about about 2-3 10's of a mile and the 22 access is on your right. Grab a map and work the deep holes. The main bay in Horseshoe is heating up along the edges. Smallies/Eyes are tight to shore/weedlines in the early morning and work out to 13-15 feet around the deep holes during the day. If you are getting Cats 15-19 feet then move shallower. I have found that the Walleyes and Crappie and Pike are USUALLY shallower than the Cats have been lately. You will have to move around to find the good schools of fish but when you get to a good spot you will have a mixed bag of fish all in an area. There are alot of Smallies and small Walleyes biting now and the Cats are going heavy on Jumbo Leeches and Crawlers. I did find a nice school of 10-12 inch Crappie and 15-20 inch Walleye last weekend. Put your time in and you will have a great day of catching out there.

Good Luck.
