Big Birch - walleyes

Recommended Posts

I was out at Big Birch last weekend. I only caught one but according to the fish cleaning can, the walleyes are biting. I picked mine up in the early evening around 5:00. With the kids I could not fish real long but as we headed back later in the evening there were 4-5 boats off the point just to the right of the campground landing. I assume the walleyes turn on in the evening.

That is my two cents - thanks to everyone else that has given out fishing reports.

What areas did you fish out there and what did you use for bait? I haven't been on Big Birch since bass opener and I'm planning a trip for 'eyes next weekend. I never tried it for 'eyes in the summer, only on opener and in the fall. Thanks for any advice. musky_tail05

I also fished Big Birch last weekend. I caught a few walleyes and many northerns and bass. Most northerns were small and the bass were also pretty small, most were around 12 inches. I caught the walleyes in 18 to 22 feet. They seemed to be sitting on the weedline or just off it. In the summer time I have good luck fishing the many sunken islands. A couple of my favorite spots are the two islands in the middle of the main basin. Leeches and crawlers catch most of my fish. Hope this helps. Good luck
