Lady and others...

Recommended Posts

My dad grew up in this area and his favorite lake is Lady lake (near Grey Eagle). Over the years it has become on of my favorites too. Clean water, good structure, and decent northerns and panfish keep my coming back (gotta love the sunken islands!). Anyone else fish this lake and have success in it? If so, what do you find works well? Any walleyes?

Lady, another of my old haunts. Back in the 60s and 70s there were some dandy panfish in there. To think of it brings back memories. This is another lake I still fish but not as much as before. There actually still are some nice sunnies in there if you can find them but overall it is another of the normal numbers lake but small fish. This is another lake that they used to stock walleye in but quit back in the early 90s I believe. There may be a few migrateing between there and Swan but I'm not sure. If you do get any walleye they will be nice but I don't hit it for walleye. If you love to catch dogfish just go around the sunkin island and you can get all you want. Last time I was there I had to get seven or eight, just what I wanted. Just like Mary it still is a fun lake to fish, not many cabins and you can still get a decent meal of panfish or northern if you want. The size has gone dowm over the years but where haven't they. Now that you mention it this may be the next on my list of "to fish lakes". Good luck!!!

Thanks Merc!

You are very knowledgable about the lakes in this area. I am going up in about a week to do some fishing on lady, long, and hopefully mary. Last year I had really good success for pike on lady lake using suckers under a float and trolling spinners w/leaches. The biggest was about a 30 incher with a sucker/float combo in about 15 ft of water off the 1st small sunken island (this was in the 3rd week of june). If you wouldn't mind sharing more stories about these lakes I would love to hear them. My e-mail is [email protected] and if there is anything I could help you out with just let me know.
