BigSwan

Recommended Posts

I did some pretty heavy research on Big Swan near Kimball - looked good on paper for eyes - fished it hard Sunday (6.5 hrs) - didnt have much success on the eyes - 2 really small ones - Anyone have any 411 on this body of water?

Are you talking about Big Swan down by Dassel??

I've fished that lake a number of times, lots of eyes in there if you can find them.

Yes - that is the lake - I really could find no good structure - and didnt mark many fish but I read they are there - just curious what you/others might tell me about some of your experience. Thanks.

I have fished Big Swan alot. The frequently changing water level seems to affect the fishing a lot. Try to find areas relatively close to shore that are about 14 feet deep. There are quite a few spots like this so its important to only fish one spot for about 30-45 minutes at most and then move on to another. You will probably also catch a few catfish in these areas along with 'eyes. If this doesnt work try trolling the drop offs near shallow weeds using floating rapalas. There are a lot of pike in the lake so you may want to use a light wire leader.
