Is Koronis Open?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what the ice conditions currently are for Koronis. I was thinking of hitting up the crappies if the ice is off.

Was there this weekend. Still had some ice. We were by the islands. It's going quick. I'm guessing by tommorrow it will be ice free. Alot of the bays were open.

Thanks for the update. I'll have to make it out there with this nice weather we're having.

J-Hawk. It sounds like you know the area by Koronis. Can you e mail me off the board? I have a fishing question concerning the area to ask you. Thanks. [email protected]

Drove by Koronis this morning......nothing but a few white caps in the middle. No signs of ice anywhere. Saw one boat launching at the hghwy 55 ramp. I have the evening free and have never fished Koronis. Anyone know of some shore spots. I live in the metro and travel for work. Will be staying in PAynesville tonight. How 'bout some suggestions???

Thanks.

WW...try the hwy 55 access bay, both sides of the bridge and the outlet area which is south of that access. There is a lake drive road that will take you there. Good luck. Nav

I'll give that a shot. I'll post an update tomorrow. I'll probably be fishing small jigs and a tube or small hook and minnow. Hopefully some crappies or sunnies are up in these shallow areas....may be a little too early yet, but here's hoping.

Thanks,

Had pretty good luck by the bridge last night. There were 6 or eight other anglers fishing the area there.

I ended up catching 15 to 20 decent gills. Mixed in with the gills were a couple rock bass, some nice shiners, 2 small crappies, and a perch.

Thanks for the tip....

It was really nice to be able to shore fish and catch some numbers.

I threw back everything I got except a couple of the bigger gills went to the guys fishing next to me.

I tried a lot of jigs and plastics but had my best luck on a bare hook and waxie.

Thanks again.
