I am in defineately! I have my weekend almost wide open so I would be willing to go just about anywhere at anytime. Let me know what you are thinking as far as lakes and times go and we can figure this out.

Was on a lake last night just west of Richmond. We had about 9" out near the middle and the ice was away from the shore about 2 feet. After the day of 58 and rain I think I'm going north to Red Lake on Monday for one last outing. Maybe we can hook up next season for some frosty ones. Good luck and be careful!

It looks like a beautiful weekend to wet our lines for one of the last times before old mother nature decides to romove our holes. Any folks interested in venturing out to chase some craps and gills around? If we have some interest, we can pick a lake and hit her hard. I will bring the frosty ones. Any takers?

I am up for suggestions on lakes, I guess many are deteriorating fast. What do you think about mid morning on Saturday. It is suppose to rain in the evening so we better slay 'em early!

Hey, I was very excited about ice out crappies. This was my first year actually trying past Feb 28. Had been out quite a few times in March. I was on Horseshoe Wed. Limited out, but very small. Decided walk-on spot was too wet, saw a guy brighter than me walk off about 150 ft. farther down shore. But, after I went to get my stuff, I was unsure of exactly where he walked off. (It was after sunset.) I was about 30 feet wrong. And I broke thru ice. Up to my armpits.

Fortunately, rain suit kept my wallet dry. And the family jewels. But everywhere else got wet. Maybe some of it from the inside. I am terrified of water. I was able to get back onto ice quickly, but sure cut up my hands on ice. I actually kept my cool. But if I would have been over my head, I might have really panicked. Was able to walk off 30 feet further down. Fotunately I was not carrying anything. All my stuff was dry in a sled.

I think I am done ice fishing. The main ice had been very good yet on Wed. But I would guess Thursday's rain rotted the shore ice completely. And yet, I am sure the bite will be phenominal.

I guess I suggest if you want to go out yet, think through all the safety steps, take along the right safety equipment, and be prepared. I hope I am preaching to the choir.

I would be willing to go in the morning but I dont really know of any "day bite" lakes. If you have any ideas let me know. We should probably plan something today if it's going to happen.

We can hit the chain, pleasant, grand, little watab, browns, or we can try some less popular lakes like sagatagan, stumpf, or minni. Any suggestions? Actually, anytime will work if you would rather go later in the day. I was just trying to beat the rain. You can email me at [email protected] if you want to talk off line.

muleskinner: Glad to hear you got out of that situation in one piece. God, I have a tremendous fear of going through the ice. I know if I did I would have to haul some extra weight up in my pants as well as myself. Good to hear it was not any worse. Bill
