Late Ice Pannys

Recommended Posts

  • Official Fishing Report Team - MN

Well winters best panfishing has begun. I have been getting into gills and crappies for the last 2 weeks. The bite has been best early and late in the day, but if this weather stays the bite should continue all day. The fish have started to set up in mud bottom bays and along the sparse weed beds. The trick is to look for fish that haven't been pressured there has been alot of activity on the ice lately as the walleye season has closed and the weather is ideal to be on the ice. Don't be afraid to do a little exploring when searching for late season pannys, cutting holes and looking might put you into some hot action.

There is alot of water forming on the ice, it wont be long and the water will start pushing in the holes, creating oxeygen. Things are going to get hot the next couple of weeks, JUST REMEBER CPR is real critical, keep a few for a meal if you want and release some for the future.
