Little Falls fishing

Mr. Pike1

Recommended Posts

Fished small 200 acre lake NW of Little Falls. The fishing was excellent. Started out with a few perch and then the walleye bite started followed by crappie up until 10:00 when we left. We got 12 or so walleye with the largest going 19-20". The crappie bite was outstanding. It started at about 4:00 and went in waves till we left at 10:00. The fish were 8-11". I would guess the bite goes all nite long. The most aggressive bite was at about 9:15 when a flurry of nice 10" crappie attached our lures. The presentation was for the most part jigs/glow jigs and a minnow. They also hit on large jigging spoons tipes with minnow. The glow devil and angle eye from the site produced walleye and crappie

Awesome MP1, I'll have to get up there with you and Sandbone next time.

I've been under the weather since Friday, but may get out to the Shoe today.

Mykal, it was banner day on the water. There were fish on the vex from the time we dropped the line to the time we left. At times they were agressive, at other times you really had to work to get the bite. Change presentation, change the jigging technique to trigger the strike. I must say I was very impressed by the tiger glow devil. When the bite slowed I would hit em hard with the tiger glow devil to get a strike. These were the larger ones so I am thinking of picking up some of the smaller glow devels to target the crappies. This lake is small, stocked very very heavy by the DNR, and a 28" pig came out of there in January. My fishing partner "Bone" had one big fish on that held the bottom hard and shock him lose. The other nice thing about this body of water is the walleye's were mixed with the crappie and the last one caught came in at 8:30. A lot of lakes the walleye will bite for that 1 hour window around dusk and shut down. It was a nice mixed bag of fish... I would definatly like to fish this body of water again.

Hey Mr. Pike1,

I think I know the lake you're talking of but have only been there once before with fairly similar results. Would G.A. Dr. happen to be near by? wink.gif

Drop me an email if I happen to be right.

Crappeye, not to sound elisive but I went there with a friend who had fished the lake a few times. All I can tell you is that is was NW of Little Falls and you had to take miles of dirt road to eventually hit the lake.

Had a great day fishing on what I think is Mr. Pike1's secret lake. We didn't slay them but caught enough for a meal for the family. We marked fish almost the entire time but they weren't very aggressive. The weather and the scenery were great. Searching for this lake was like a treasure hunt. Even if I didn't find the same lake, I was happy with the lake I found.
Chad- It was nice meeting you on the lake. Maybe I will run into you again on a lake closer to home sometime. You said that you read this forum so you need to get registered. There is a lot of really nice people who love to fish as much as you, on here.
Thanks again Mr. Pike1, your secret is good with me.

NELS-BELLS, Glad to see had success on little unnamed lake off the beatin path. It may have indeed been the same body of water. I am planning on going again in the near future and bringing Mykal from the site there for some nice crappie action.

Made it back out to this little pond at about 4:00. Tried another lake first with no success. The bite was hot right at the start with crappie, sunfish, walleye and bass being caught right away. The bass and walleye were not targeted they were just mixed in with the panfish. The bite slowed after 6:00. They were there but you really, really had to work hard to get the hits. One large walleye was lost right at the hole and another large fish lost part of the way up. It was a good trip but the catch was down from the prior venture.

I went up to the secret lake yesterday evening with a friend of mine (Heavy Tackle). We marked fish the whole time but the action was slow. We did manage to catch a northern, a walleye, many small perch, some bullheads, and a few crappies. The largest crappie was 13". With the exception of one other group, we had the entire lake to ourselves. It was a little windy but the temp. was nice.
