Hey I have gotten the chance to fish the river for the first couple of times this year. Wow, it was unreal, saturday morning, my bro and his friend and I hit the walleyes at sunrise, had our limits of 14"-20" inchers in under 30 minutes. Myself I caught 25 eyes. As soon as i got my lure to the bottom i had one on. But to top it off we moved about 30 yards away and got into the catfish. Combined my bro and I caught 45 catfish in 2 hours. Half were over 5 lbs, 1/4 were over 8 lbs, and about 10 of them were right around 12 lbs. Simply unbelieveable. Went out again sunday evening and same story, the catfish were still there and my brother got a really nice 17.5 pound cat, talk about a fighter.
Not a bad way to start the ice fishing season. Now bring on the crappies.

Wondering what river and where. I've never fished the rivers in the winter what kind of set up were you using? how deep of water?

Hey guys,
Dont really want to reveal the location but can say they are hittin the BuckShot rattle jigs. Think big as far as the river is concerned.

Hey Buckwheat since you are new here why don't you reveal to us all of your hotspots? Please don't get p.o.'d when people don't give you exact coordinates to where the fish are biting. This guy has shared some information on the internet... more than I ever would if I found a bite like that, you should just be happy that people participate in a forum like this. Now get out there and fish.

Gosh FlowageTamer, can't thank you enough for the information. I was looking to get out over the X-mas holidays and do some fishing. Now, if I can just narrow it down to the Mississippi, Missouri or Amazon River I'll be on my way. If you're not willing to at least give us something to work with, I'd prefer you keep your bragging to yourself. Anyone been on Horseshoe lately?
