The 18th Annual Heart of Minnesota Fishing Tournament will be Saturday, June 9th on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes. Fishing hours are 6:30am-4:30pm. This is a very fun event and it pays in 6 categories (Northern, Walleye, Bass, Crappie, Sunnie and Catfish) Buttons are on sale already and they are $30. The buttton includes the tournament entry fee and a chance at over $5000 in prizes. Email me if you have any questions. ScottS

Is the weigh-in station still going to be along Hwy 22 their?

Yes the weigh station is still by the highway 22 bridge. The only thing that has changed this year is minimum lenghts for walleye, bass & northern. Prior to this year there was minimum weights for all species, which resulted in a lot of under weight fish being brought in. Hope to see everyone at the contest. There is a nice get together afterwards where the prizes are given out and the drawings are held.ScottS

June 9th is Right around the corner, and that means one thing. The HORSESHOE CHAIN OF LAKES FISHING CONTEST. It is a blast and I hope to see everyone out there. I will be doing the Tournament Patrol again this year, so if you see a Green Lund boat with Tournament Patrol signs on it wave me down and say Hi. If you are not familiar with the event, it is a Multi-Species event with payouts in all categories: Northern, Bass, Walleye, Sunnies, Crappies and Catfish. Buttons are avaiable at most of the local bait shops as well as most of the businesses in Richmond. If you want more details you can email me or post them here.ScottS

I just heard that button sales have been pretty good, with over half being sold before May 15th. That is well ahead of other years, so if you are planning on waiting until Friday to get your button, you may be out of luck. Sounds like the weather is going to be real nice. See ya on the water.ScottS

Your best bet to get a button will be Southside Truckstop in Richmond or any of the local bars. There are several bars on Main Street in Richmond, but you will have to get them in Richmond. I am not sure what time they close the button sales but if you are going to be late, I would call ahead and make sure someone saves one for you. With the nice weather this weekend, they will sell out fast. I had 9 calls yesterday for buttons, so I know they won't last long. See ya on the water. ScottS

Most of the businesses in Richmond have a copy of the results. I also have a copy but with all the categories I decided not to list them on the site. If you have any specific categories or would like the winning weights I would be glad to post them, just let me know if there is interest. The overall size of the fish was excellent this year and there were 380 participants.ScottS

Well I decided to post the results anyway: I will post the top weights for each category for now:
Northern 11.50
Walleye 7.26
Bass 4.04
Sunfish 7.16 (10 Fish)
Crappie 3.38 (5 Fish)
Catfish 5.92

If you are looking for a specific winner or category let me know, I can post the whole list if I have time.ScottS
