Weather Forecast for the weekend on LOTW

Recommended Posts

HawkEYE1

I see on weather.com it is supposed to get cold 18 deg. on Sunday, however the resort owner where we are staying at is talking 40's 50's. Do we have a meteorologist in the group that has a clue how the weather is going to be this weekend. Good for fishing? Thanks in advance

They keep changing the forcasts.. Sunday was supposed to be nice, now I see it's the low or mid 20's forcast with monday near 40 again. The national weather service seems to be more accurate to me. crh.noaa.gov

HawkEYE,<P>I'm no meteorologist by any means but I'm a fisherman who picks the wrong weekends to go fishing. Last 2 weekends I was up at LOW and ran into the nastiest weather I've seen this winter. Seems like when I don't go fishing, the weather is terrific. Good for you guys I'm not heading out fishing this weekend, so I'm guessing the weather should be good.

Sound like it's going to be real windy with temps droping throughout the weekend.

We left this morning at 730am and it was 15 degrees, windchill-0- and the winds were between 25-35MPH. Local weather on the old TV said mid 20's for today and tomorrow. It was a definite change from Friday when it was in the mid 40's all day. HOpe it holds together up there for another coupld of weeks, once it goes it will really be sloppy with all the snow that is still on the ice. Bill

BobD. Yes the plans are still to leave around 530am on Thursday. Its going to get sloppy but I think we'll still be ok through the weekend. The snow pack up there is holding the temps down as compared to here in Central Minnesota. Our local 5 day forecast is predicting 55 degrees late in the week. I pulled Grand Forks weather a little while ago and the highs up there are predicted in the middle to upper 30's so I think we're good to go. If you're headed up we will be at Riverbend again in cabin #6, or at the lodge for dinner each night around 700pm-730pm. Let me know if you're coming and where you will stay. We'll try to compare some notes. Bill

BobD: PS to my last post. We will be leaving on Saturday around 100pm, so maybe we won't be able to hook up if you're not coming up until Saturday. I have a radio in the house with me, give a call to BTurck on channel 3 if you have handhelds. Bill

      Hello from Sunset Lodge!

In Minnesota, walleyes and pike have been found using crank-baits on the south side of Oak Island.  Walleye have also been caught pulling spinners in 26-30 feet using gold and green.

In Ontario, walleye have been very active using pink and orange jigs on the breaks of reefs or casting shallow crank-baits in 8-12 feet by rocky shoreline points.  A good mixed bag of smallmouth and pike have been found with the walleye as well.

Musky fishing has really picked up with lots of fish over 40+ inches.  Fishing sand and weedy bays near rock reefs have produced well using buck-tails, small crank-baits and top-water baits.

      Until next week!

A group of us are planning on getting together on Lake Osakis for the day on 8/18/18 for a day of fishing and a midday picnic at the Battle Point Park.  We would enjoy connecting with some fellow anglers from the site to connect and have some fun.  Osakis is a great lake for big gills, slab crappies, nice walleye, pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass.  The best walleye bite has been during low light periods.  Sunfish and crappie bite all day.  We plan on taking a break around noon at the Battle Point Park for lunch.  Right now tentatively looking to connect around 8-9 at the access.  Otherwise look for a red and white Warrior and connect with me, "Borch" on the water I'd you'd like.   I might even have a fishing report really fresh fishing report for you.

I bought a used boat and I had the dealer install my Lowrance HDS on the dash. There was already two Lowrance units that came with the Boat. One mounted in the bow and the other in the dash. So when the dealer installed my HDS, the networked it to the older unit from the dash. My sonar on the HDS would only work if the dash unit was on. I really don’t know the advantages of doing this?  Anyways, this past weekend I landed the boat and the dash unit wouldn’t power up. I checked and I did have power going to the unit. Hence no sonar. I had to go old school and caught 10 eyes! Lol so my question is how do I bypass the network so I can just run the HDS? Thanks!

Have you tried cleaning it? I have found more often than not when someone tells me their foot pedal isn't working right, I can take it apart, clean it up, lubricate it, and everything works again. If you try this, avoid grease or oil because dirt collects. I used WD-40 and it seemed to work well.
