Neverstop, we were up on Zippel 2/26- 2/29, had a great time! Between 4 of us, 158 fish, each took home 1 walleye short of a limit and had a big fry the first night. Not much size to any of them. We were in 31 feet just off "Jack fish" road. The colors were pretty much split between gold and glow w/shiners. A couple of nice (13") perch too. Got one of them jigging a gold swedish pimple. Good luck to you. Hope you hammer 'em too.
Those log cabins are just immaculate!

neverstopfishing,
We will be up there with the 7X14 bar on wheels. If you have a two way bring it up. I think channel 12 is the one they use there. Stop by for a cold one and give us an update if you get a chance. ****If any ohters know of a channel more used out of the Zippel area please advise.
TJB
[This message has been edited by TJB (edited 03-03-2004).]

Every resort on the south end of LOW has it's own channel that it monitors for communitcation with it's employees.....channel 12 is NOT Zipple Bay....Channel 16 is the Emergency channel and Wig Wam monitors this channel at all times.
I am curious as to why any one would want to listen to the jabbering and the business talk that goes on between employees of a resort???
B-O-R-I-N-G !!!!
[This message has been edited by Nic (edited 03-03-2004).]

I am not interested into listening to the resorts. I am hoping to meet others and talk about how they are doing. As I said I will stick to channel 12 if any one is interested. I may monitor others of the area I am in. Thanks for the emergency channel, hope to never have to use it, good luck to all.
TJB
Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.

That's cute. My mother in law had all those little sayings. Her favorite was "Life's a betch then you die" so cheery. 😏
