It is truly a multi-specie lake. Plenty of hog pike and muskie available too. We will have Pro Staff available within a 1/4 mile of that location to help out those who would like help or just want to learn more about ice fishing.<P>The hard core competitors have the whole lake to fish. <P><B>When</B><BR>We meet and register or check-in at Schusters Resort from 7 am to 10 am, drive out to the on ice location where Pro Staff might just give a few hints as to what is happening on the lake and potential good fishing spots. Everyone starts fishing at 8 am.<P>2 PM for weigh-ins. I have a buddy coming up on Thursday, we're gonna fish URL that nite, and then try Fri, Sat, Sun, to get him on a very large green slimey toothy fish. Maybe do a little Walleye fishing on some evening spots as well. We'll most likely be dropping in that way on Saturday, not sure iffin we'll fish the tourney or just hangout, visitate and fun fish as of yet.<P>Hey Josh what do you think? Drawings for some great prizes.<P>My guess is 2-300 people for LOW.<P>Not a competitive tourney like most. Fishing is for fun and most are not secretive about where there heading to. Four of us will be there for the weekend and thought that we would join the tourney. We are fishing anyway why not try for a prize and get a meal out of it besides.<P> Fiskyknut I see you might be trying for some Gators? Do you have any tips that you would like to share with a few rookies. I have been coming up for a couple of years now but haven't got the big one yet. I have been told go to Canadian side but we got one guy with a DUI so that is not an option.<BR>Thanks.

Ruger.....The Pike bite should start heating up very soon. What time of year were you Pike fishing on your other trips? Where were you setting up? I pretty much fish Pike on the westside of the lake this time of year, spots in Muskeg bay for the most part. Good fishing can also be found around Zbay and the Morris gap and 4mile bay but I prefer the westside by far. I like deadbaits on a QS rig under a tipup set over shallow water, anywhere from 5 to 10 fow or so.<P>Mid March the Pikes usually start snapping pretty well in the shallows, and it just gets better and better from then till iceout and beyond.<P>Maybe see you around next Saturday.<P>Regards....fiskyknut<P>

Fiskyknut.... Thanks for the tips. In the past I have been setting up in the swift ditch area with little success, wrong depth, wrong time of year I don't know. How far does a person have to go out to have 10 feet of water under you. Last year when I was at Swift I went out a couple hundred yards and punched a hole into the mud kinda hard on the new Laser blades. <P>This year I have talked to alot of people and they all have pretty much told me the same thing Muskeg bay is a good starting point. If you don't see any action in an hour or so move a couple hundred yards and try again. <P>We will be using tip ups tipped with smelt in shallow water. I will be bringing suckers along as well just in case. <P>Yes maybe I will see you on Saturday I will be there from sun up till sun down. Well, I think I twisted the old man's arm enough to get him to do this. I was planning on hitting this event at both MilleLacs & Red but things didn't work out. By all the response and photos, looks like its a great time with plenty of fish being caught.<P>We're heading up to LOW early tomorrow morning and plan on heading out past Pine. Last 2 weekends my dad didn't do very well out of Zippel so I think I've convinced him to try something new. I've never ventured that far east on the big lake before so we'll see what happens. <P>Unless something comes up, hopefully see ya'll out there next weekend.
