Well myself and Marine_man and a couple others just got back from 3 relaxing days on the little lake. Another great trip for the most part. We caught quite a few fish but had to work our tails of for them. On sunday Danny took us out to the twin rock area and set us up. By about 10 they came and checked on us and we had not even had a bite the entire morning so they move us house and all to a new spot. We ended up having a good rest of the day bringing in 13 saugers, 3 walleyes, and 7 fat football perch. So the mon. we went back to the same house and had a great morning but the afternoon slowed up. They kept moving house in next to us because they said we were their best house on the lake althought several around us were not catching anything. The flashers show allot of fish but they were not being very aggresive. So for the mon we brought in 14 saugers, 3 walleyes, 13 fat footballs, and one 29 1/2 in northern that wouldn't go back after we got her up. So then Tues we again went back and again had a decent day ended up bring in 10 saugers, 3 walleyes and probably around 10 fat perch. The guides said we were the best house on the lake all there so I guess that means things aren't that fast and furious there. It was lucky for us though otherwise it would have been a very long trip. It was another good time at Arensens though. They sure have some nice new bombers. Nice to get in and out of which is important to me since my 73 year old dad is along it make the trip much easier on him. I was very suprised that the majority of our fish were saugers but they sure were nice and plump saugers. Walleyes were the normal for this year lots several 12 inch walleyes were caught and released. The guides were saying nose to tail in pail go ahead and keep it but we get enough fish where we didn't keep very many that that rule applied to. It looked though by the pails that many others were bring in they were going by that rule. Biggest disappointment of the week was that we didn't get a single walleye over two pounds which will typically happend one of our 3 days. But it still was a good trip. I have lucked out this year and been blessed with 4 great trip to the little lake in northern MN. I usually have about 3 good trip to 2 bad trips so this year on the hole has been very good to me. I hope to make one more trip up in Late March to tip up for some giant slough sharks but that might not happen. I have to go to MT to work for a few months and I am told that I should have some time off where I can head back so hopefully I can manage one more trip. Good luck to everyone over the next couple months.
------------------
Grip it and Rip it
IFFWalleyes
I Fish For Walleyes
[email protected]

[This message has been edited by iffwalleyes (edited 02-25-2004).]

They said we were 6 miles east of Arensen's if I were to guess it was probably a couple miles from twin rock. It was a mud bottom and we were in 34 feet of water.
------------------
Grip it and Rip it
IFFWalleyes
I Fish For Walleyes
[email protected]

iffwalleyes,
Thanks for the info., I kind of thought that's where they were. Wasn't sure though. Thanks again.

How far are you out from Twin Islands? What kind of depth and bottom were you fishing? I'm assuming mud, but you never know.

Central America. Focus. We almost went for a local overnight crappie run but the daughter’s septic froze so I got to work the brown trout pond through a 4 inch hole. It was opener today afterall. 😉

Ok, how did we get from crappies and freezing temps to pond slime eaters in south America? Focus! 🙄

The locals there shoot ducks but don't hunt them. If they see a bunch on a pond they'll sneak up and water swat them but it's strictly for food not sport. My buddy runs an outfitter so him and I will hunt a few days and scout then I'll help him with a group whose coming mid week. He's from there. Hoping he can come to Canada next year with me. He's never seen or shot a goose

Awesome kind of trip! I figured there would be a local benefit if you couldn’t bring them back (not saying you can’t). Having a connection down there is pretty cool! We donated a good share of meat to the village in Kotzebue, AK instead of shipping it all back. Pretty pricey and they really appreciated it. Win/win.

I don't bring them back, eat a lot then clean them for the village. Some like them plucked and some like the breasts cut out. It's really remote where I go and the locals live off the land. I know they want me to go get some doves for them too. My buddy is a local so we'll probably go get a deer as well for some venison for some of the elders in the community
