Bob,
Not sure if this is good or bad, but besides Lac Suel I haven't fished another lake besides LOW for 20+ years.
I won't be there this weekend.
If you want to hook up and fish on the woods sometime, that would be cool.

Bob:
I've got accommodations that will rival the sleepers you have been staying in too. You just need a sled and a portable, and we can run all over heck.
Keep in touch.

Mr Dahl, I won't be there either, could'nt round anyone up to head down there. I'm going to fish in that Springsteel/Warroad chamber derby that day. I'll sit on a bucket and hope my # gets called for a door prize anyways. This day has great potential to be my first skunking in a very longtime up here!
weather forecast looks great though.
fiskyknut

Hi Curt -
Hope we find each other. I'll be driving a 94 dark green F250 4X4. It has a maroon highrise topper with canoe racks. I'll be the guy with the FM Hat (if I can find it), glasses, large gut and white beard wearing dirty duck brown carhardt pants smile.gif.
Mr. Norman - Good luck! I hope they draw your ticket for something big. I'll catch ya one of the days.
Widetrack - please shoot me an email if you can. I would like to get you in my address book so we can touch base later. I have a couple of more trips planned for the pond this year so maybe we can hook up in March?

Made a quick trip before the weekend rush on Vermilion. Ice was in very good condition. Didn't see any slush or water on any of the roads out from McKinley Park. There are plowed roads on both side of the staked snowmobile trail coming out from the landing. The road to the left goes out toward Birch Island, and there is a spur road going to the left (west) a couple hundred yards out. The road on the right side goes out toward Ely Island. There is a short spur road going east about half mile out. The water came up under my fish house about another 1½ inches when I drilled my holes. Looks like I will be going back up early next week to block my house up higher. The small amount of new snow is really drifting up and adding weight. You may get water on the ice, or find slush if you drill holes in new areas. There is about 15% bare ice where the wind has blown it off. Many of the drifts are very high and hard, so you could get stuck on them. Fishing was average. Best bites were from 9-10am and 11-1230 when I quit. Biggest walleyes was only 16¼", then the next biggest was 13.75". Reporting lengths in quarter inches because I can't seem to find any big walleyes. Good luck fishing, be careful driving around, and be courteous to others.
