Just returned from Gibbins Ice Fishing.
"The woman and the kids and the dogs and me" had a good time smile.gif.
Fishing was a little slow but we did manage enough for a fish fry on Sunday night and brought back 23 (mostly sauger) that reached across the pail or better. We had a couple of sauger that were in the 16"-17" range. The biggest had a big cisco in her gut that was sticking out of her throat. That one was caught by my 6 year old daughter "Pickle". She set the hook and brought it up all by herself.
The fishing was slower than earlier in the year, but the overall size of the fish has improved. I was surprised not to see any high fliers on the vexi this time. All I saw was a couple of groups of tulibee move through about 1/2 way up. No perch this time either. We were in 30 feet of water. I caught a 7 to 8 pound northern yesterday morning that got everyone's attention in the house grin.gif.
The kids made friends with some kids from Duluth who were staying in one of the other houses. They met on the marine band radios and then spent time bouncing back and forth between the houses the following day. They all had a ball. The negative was when my oldest daughter dropped a $2000 piece of medical equipment down the hole frown.gif.
All in all a good trip. The 6 man houses are simply great for a family trip. I wish I could go every weekend.
I can hardly wait for our March 26th FM get-together there. It is going to be a blast!

I forgot to add:
Bryant is trying to keep roads open to the houses this year. I did not know that so I drove my little-rice burner up there. Had I have known I would have brought my 4X4 and would have been able to drive right to the house. I love when I can do that - It makes a fun trip even funner when you have to work even less smile.gif. If folks are planning on going up I would give him a call before you leave to see if you can drive out. It makes it easier to plan that way.

Sorry to hear that you dropped some high priced medial equipment down the ol' hole.
I've seen guys in our group drop things in the hole too, phones,cameras,glasses....
it sucks!
I see that you brag about Gibbins Ice Fishing a lot.
We used to go there when Dan Gibbins owned it and would always have a real fun time. So last year we went there with the new guy and was not impressed!
There are several things I could say that went on, but I won't on this page.
We went out of Sportsman's Lodge this year instead and when we got there we found out that they just built some sleepers so we asked if we could see them when we were on the lake.
They are Great!!
So before we left we made our reservation for next Dec. to stay in one of their new sleepers.

Thanks for the info on driving out there Dr. Bob. I will be heading up there Mar. 12-14. I can't wait to get up there. We are staying in their big house with 7 guys. How deep were you fishing?
